Falken FK-453 - Anyone used them yet?
I know FK-452's have a good reputation on here as a budget perfromance tyre, but has anyone had any direct experience of its sucessor, the 453? Preferably on a MR2. Initial reviews on the web are not glowing, but this is probably due to it being a relatively new tyre, and I can't understand why the ...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Reducing front end lift and generally improving front end grip
You could always buy one of these and measure the downforce of each modification accordingly... That way you know if its having any positive effect or not http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JDM-ARC-Downforce-Meter-Impreza-WRX-STi-GC8-GDB-GDA-Legacy-BR-Z-/230924363483?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Reducing front end lift and generally improving front end grip
No air is needed in the engine bay, the engine is water cooled. The TOMS is for engine inlet air only not for engine bay cooling as the flow would be the wrong way. Any air that comes in the side inlets would be enough to cool anything that may need cooling, nothing needs to come up from the bottom...

Re: MR2 SW20 RHD Power Steering Quick Steer Pinion.
2)My power steering is terrible now. It seems to offer assistance about 0.5s after I turn the wheel a significant amount. So i turn the amount I want to, then it kicks in and tries to make me turn more into the corner. The steering wheel also turns by itself when the car is stationary and doesnt re...

Re: MR2 SW20 RHD Power Steering Quick Steer Pinion.
I have recieved a pinion today. I'll get the verniers out tonight and look to take some dimensional measurements for comparision. I did note that the accompanying documentation noted the part as 'sample'. This may just be an oversight, but worth confirming that these are the finished components (pre...

Re: [FINALIZED] Rev 4 G-Limited (Tin Top) - £500
That car is easily worth £1000+. Don't break it mate, too nice a motor. Just wrong time of year to be selling a rwd sports car. If the sills weren't showing signs of corrosion, I'd probably price it a decent bit higher, and sort out a couple of niggly little things. I also need shot of the car by n...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 235/40 R17 Proxes on 7 inch rim?
235/45/17 would fit better on that rim width, but as above, not ideal. Plenty 225/45/17's available... Why are you suggesting using oversize tyres? (ie. by increasing the profile those tyres are now 37mm too large and introduce a 6% speedo underread)) Besides, increasing the profile won't change th...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Softer than Teins?
Sounds like the springs that come with the Teins are far too stiff for the road (common issue with Teins and other coilovers). TBH I've never been in an MR2 that rode "acceptably" on coilovers on a variety of different roads, although I haven't tried KW's, which are supposed to offer one o...

Re: Cold weather gear changes
Hm. Thanks. Would ancient gearbox oil cause difficulty in getting down gears in the cold? Particularly first gear is troublesome. Obviously it's first gear, but it feels a bit more hesitant than I'd expect and certainly not as lovely as the more modern cars I also drive. Presume from this you'd rec...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Alcantara/Flocked Dash
You'll have to be very careful and also find a glue resistant to plasticisor migration. Steve found out about this when he did my dash with his original glue. Everything fine intitially and after 6 months it went baggy in places. Anyway new dash, different glue and it's all fine now. Personally I t...
