same thing happening to me , I've just forked out on plugs , leads , dizzy cap etc. havn't fitted them yet but as your post said it may not make a difference

it doesn't say what the engine light is , are you saying the engine light is the yellow malfunction light in top left hand corner of the dash?

](*,) , I was checking for code errors , and apparently if the engine warning light continuesly flashes when you put the ignition on then everything's ok is that right ? , but what does the symbol look like is it the on the right of the dash or the left , all I'm getting is the yellow indicator lamp...

I did the error test , I think I connected what you said with a paper clip turned it to ignition 2 and all I got flashing was the yellow lamp indicator ? ( with all the symbols present ) it was just the yellow indicator lamp was continually flashing ,

with ignition leads , what will be better in performance 5mm leads or 7mm. will there be a difference or not ?

just reading the whole thread again, it could be simple. i had a baddly hesitating turbo, on acceleration it would hold back and give a sort of farty noise and it would slowly pick up then sound ok one its goin. new plugs, dizzy cap and rotor arm and roberts your fathers brother! sorted mine out, h...

could be the Lamda sensor in the exhaust, if this is giving a fault or reading your O2 incorrectly you will have poo running conitions and running lean/rich giving you the smoke issues!
