Re: Will I fit.

I'm 6'3" and fit no problem. A lot depends on if you've got long legs or a long back. The Mk1 will cope with a long back easily, as it has a high roof line for a sports car and you sit low, but I do know people with longer legs who struggle to get truly comfy. One solution which helps in some c...

Re: knocking from the front end

Definately sounds like drop links to me. Fairly easy to swap, so worth doing yourself just to rule them out. You can get them from a few places too, I think I got mine from Autojapspares, Fensport probably do them too. The top nut is the tricky one to shift but the replacements normally come with re...

Re: Thermostat location

Why is it that when this is the thermostat for the engine, Mr T decided to use a separate sensor for the gauge in the car?

Ta, sounds like that could be worth a go. I wonder if you can shield the sensor any, I might try that too.

Re: Dropping RPM whilst standing in traffic

That's one of these yeah? Image Replaced With URL For Quote http://www.fensport.co.uk/partsfiles/aw11files/ramairfiltermr2-1.jpg I still reckon you're going to have issues with too much hot air. Nope, not one of them. I think mine's called a 'panel filter'. It goes in the normal box on the LHS of t...

Re: Thanks to everyone that came up with ideas!!

When you do get the new one fitted get the mechanic to use wingnuts and plenty of copperslip. It'll make it quicker next time.

Glad you're rolling again, Steve. Now be nice to it.

Re: Dropping RPM whilst standing in traffic

I haven't fitted a cone filter in the engine bay <Shock horror> I went for a RAMair in the original box in the boot so the air's still coming from outside. I'll see if I can find an air temp sensor though and check it. You never know. I changed the coolant just before the weather got hot so I don't ...

Re: MR2 MK1 Club- Posting guidelines

I think the Mk1 forum is a great idea. It simply makes Mk1 stuff easier to find. I know if I trawl up and down the lists looking for articles on brakes and find some they'll be relevant to me. This shouldn't be seen as 'separatist' or anything, just easier. I'm just as likely to read the off topic a...

Re: Wind noise from round doors and sunroof

Good point about the door dropping. I did actually level my door off before I adjusted the window so technically either could have been the cure in my case. If your door has dropped, and it's stricking the latch heavily an easy fix is to remove the two bolts from the bottom hinge and insert a washer...

Dropping RPM whilst standing in traffic

OK all, here's the problem. On a hot day if I get stuck in traffic and the car's stood idling, the RPM slowly drops and drops. Each time you move forward a few feet in the queue and then put the clutch down and come off the gas the revs will drop initially to 800, then 600, 500 as time goes on and t...

Re: Wind noise from round doors and sunroof

It could also be how the door glass sits. It needs to touch with a good deal of pressure to seal well, whatever your rubbers are like. I had a bad whistle coming from the drivers door at the front edge by the mirror. Beacause of a dent I needed to swap the complete door, but had to refit the old win...

Re: Rear calipers locked?

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt all grubby. Without the right tools there is no 'wind it as you push it back in' either. It takes a good deal of force to do and winding and pushing at the same time is tricky, you always seem to end up doing one not the other. Never did get the handbrake quite...
