Re: [Mk2] [Generic] My new rear almost finished!!!

Looking good Brook. Loving the lights mate. :thumleft: My old car used to have a carbon centre panel and Rev 1 lights. I was going to fit Rev 3's but it just didn't look as good. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h55/glenbarnett/The%20Red%20Beast/DSC_0042.jpg Mine now has a V6 fitted. After having h...

Btw, for anyone who doubted the quality of genuine border products...check the fit quality of this! -straight out of the packaging, no altering to anything what so ever -just stuck it straight on the car!..20min job :D I've said it before Ryan. Border products fit perfectly. Looks the biz mate. :th...

Re: Turbo,,, reliable? If you've had an engine failure post here.

My ex rev 3 engine. Mainly because it was built originaly by a complete muppet, and then because it was maintained by a t0sser.

Chronic piston slap, leading to bore wash, compression loss, bore wear and finally, complete failure.

Re: bumper

Border themselves only use 2 layers a total weight of 600 matting. We use 750 as we feel it needs the extra 150 for structure. Genuine Border front ends are made from urethene, not fiberglass, as per the stock front end. They also replicate the complete attachment structure, and fit without modific...

Re: transmission loss

Spot on Jim. :thumleft: Take two cars (independant of make). Both cars make 150bhp at the wheels. The transmission loss for both cars equates to somewhere in the region of 17% as they're both RWD (generally FWD cars suffer more loss, typically around 20%). Modify one so it makes 500 at the wheels. D...

Re: 400 bhp

Ian, it's the same deal no matter what car you modify. The more you modify it, the more day to day reliability is lost. If you set yourself a goal (say around 350whp - and believe me, that's enough for any road car), you have a good chance of keeping a fair deal of reliability and drivability. My ol...

Poohbear wrote:Earl...you had yours on the rollers yet to substantiate the 200 @ the wheels claim or is that just a gut feel??

Bob

No rollers yet Bob, just going on figures taken from my friends GTech. I used one on my old car, and it was correct to within a couple of bhp, so no reason to doubt this one.

what you done to the v6 earl to get it close to those figs? ive barely seen any v6s get close to 200 at the fly let alone at the wheels... (bar the SC boys, lol) i hope to hear one for real asap! Jim, the 3VZ-FE makes around 200 bone stock at the fly. With light porting and downpipe mods, it's quit...

Re: HELP ! Not sure about V6 conversion

There will always be an argument for the turbo, and one for the V6. I've had both. The turbo was an animal, making well over 450bhp at the flywheel with 360ft/lb of torque at 5500rpm. Very fast, but it was an absolute pig to drive. The V6 is making close to 200 at the wheels and somewhere around 220...

Pretty sure Graeme's head is bog standard. The stock head is fine for power levels way over 450.

Good man!

You won't regret the conversion. It totally transforms the performance of the car. Instant grunt from any rpm.

Roundabouts will never be the same once you've driven out of them in your V6 MR2...
