Re: Fitting Stainless manifold and downpipe tips?

The pipes OK but along the line I lost one of the blanking bolts thats in the downpipe and the manufacturer says they don't stock spares and I'm having trouble finding one! :? V annoying I know the cat temp. sensor goes in the smaller one of the holes, but dunno what goes in the 18mm hole? Spools up...

Re: Engine bay layout

I was in two minds about whether to fit my xs power manifold. In the end I decided not to. It'd be interesting how you get on with it. If yours doesn't crack I'd regret not fitting mine when the turbo was out! Don't forget you could heatwrap it, but with the history of xs power I'm not sure that wou...

Re: Fitting Stainless manifold and downpipe tips?

Had a mobile mechanic come round to remove the broken stud yesterday. He literallly did it in 30 seconds compared to my whole day effort! He used snap-on stud removers and it really showed the difference in quality compared to my £20 jobbies that did f**k all. Although his set cost an absolute fortu...

Re: white smoke??

I heard that a rev 3 head on a rev 2 turbo is meant to give a fair amount of brake? Although you need a different inlet manifold?
Don't hold me to it though and I'm sure I'll get shot down in flames if I'm wrong by one of the pro's on here.
Just a suggestion if the head's coming off anyway?Nik

Specific induction kit for turbo?

Might sound like a silly question, but do I need a specific adapter plate to fit an induction kit to my rev 2 turbo? or can I buy an aftermarket filter and make up some piping to get it to fit? Thanks peeps Nik

Re: Fitting Stainless manifold and downpipe tips?

To be honest my hands really aren't looking too pretty at the mo! Cut my palm pretty badly when trying to get all the heat shielding out- rookie mistake!lol The stud sticks out around 1" ish and is flush with the manifold when its on. Drowned it in wd40 and tried a stud remover on it (a socket ...

Re: Fitting Stainless manifold and downpipe tips?

BIG BIG thanks to adamh for his help today!! Much appreciated- top bloke! The cat came out this morning after gringing off that final bracket. Dropped the turbo this afternoon and got the manifold out with a little light persuation. Had a go at the sheered stud but so far no joy. hmmmmmmmmmmm the st...

Re: Fitting Stainless manifold and downpipe tips?

OK then thats what I'll have to do. Thanks for the advice matey. Just a hell of alot of work to put on a stock manifold though! lol I'll drop the turbo first thing in the morning. Never taken a turbo off before which is why I'm so unsure of it. Still first time for everything though! I'm sure I'll e...

Re: Fitting Stainless manifold and downpipe tips?

Thanks for the advice people and the pics were very helpful. After all this I've now been advised not to fit the stainless manifold as apparently it will definitely crack as both items are XS power. Feeling a bit gutted about that as I'll have to take the stock manifold off to take out the sheered s...

Re: Fitting Stainless manifold and downpipe tips?

Does anyone know if I can split the exhaust housing of the turbo from the compressor side while the turbo is still attached to the engine? If so is it just a case of undoing the support on the bottom of the turbo and undoing the round bracket that holds the 2 sides together? It's a ct26 on a rev 2. T...

Re: Fitting Stainless manifold and downpipe tips?

I've made some progress. The cat is now free but won't come out due to the oil cooler?(the bit that the oil filter screws into) How the HELL do I take that off?? It looks impossible!! Advise PLEASE people. The cat is ready but can't because of the lack of space! Also the manifold is now fully undone...

Re: Fitting Stainless manifold and downpipe tips?

I have never under-estimated a mechanical job so much in my life!! So far every single nut I have encountered has been rusted on to the point of near-no return! The cat has been an absolute pig. I have 1 supporting bolt left to remove on the left hand side 3/4 of the way down, but it is so badly rus...

rad

Unlucky buddy. I paid £50 inc VAT for a rad for my old Rev 3 NA from a breakers near me, although it wasn't perfect (couple of nicks- but can't complain for the money!). I believe all the rads are the same for the UK cars. I fitted a Rev2 rad to my Rev3 NA with no probs. The obvious difference on th...

Re: Fitting Stainless manifold and downpipe tips?

4 times??????????ok you've got me worried now!Isn't it meant to knacker your turbo if you have a cracked manifold? I checked my kit and have a supporting bracket for the downpipe I believe, but nothing for the turbo or manifold (I'm running a standard ct26). Also, I was planning to take the whole th...
