Re: Spoiler repair thread. WIP More pictures added 12.08-12

Seems like a lot of work for a part that is readily available, plenty of cars being broken and spoilers available quite cheaply. That aside though kudos to you for taking the repair on, why not take the oppertunity to fit an led brake light into it while you have the chance. Jimi is the man for this...

Re: Rear control arm inner bush

If we're talking about the rear track adjusting tie rod inner attachment then it's a bearing and not a bush. All Mk1s have the same bearing unless someone has modified it with a non standard one. Have to agree with foxy here but will bow to superior knowledge if I'm wrong, I'm certain mine also has...

Re: Immobiliser Question

Well it turned out to be the most basic of problems a dud battery. The battery had been on a trickle charger for about a week and it was the type that has the inspection window with the colour indicator. It was glowing bright green which made me think it was ok but after checking it had a duff cell ...

Immobiliser Question

Tried to start my car at the weekend after it had been sitting for about 3 weeks. Very slow to turnover although the battery is fully charged. Car bump started ok and drove fine but once stopped wouldn't restart on the key. Getting a lot of clicking noises from the after market alarm/immobiliser/cen...

Had to smile when I read this line Paul, I think you're already a million miles away from original spec. Absolutley ace though another fantastic project.

Is Ebay dead?

Was on Ebay this evening and did a search for MR2 MK1 and up popped 1908 items click the tab for "auctions only" and the number of available items dropped to just 43.

What is the point of an auction site if everything on it is "Buy it now" at inflated prices.

Re: Head Gasket Gone Costs for repair?

Little bit of an update, after humming and hawing on what I should do, came to the conclusion that I need to run the thing to find out if there was a genuine problem with the HG or not. So I've done about 75 miles now in fairly short trips probably about 20 mile being the longest, and the car is run...

Re: Blueprints for the Mk1?

Toyota published an accident repair manual for the MR2, I happen to have one =P~ , and there are lots of dimensioned diagrams of the body shell in it. Someone may have a scan of it that they could pass on for you.

Re: Head Gasket Gone Costs for repair?

How old is your water pump? Always worth considering doing that too whilst everything is in bits. Changed the pump and some rotten pipework only last year so should be good. Have you done a compression check across 4 cylinders? Flushed coolant? Tried 20/50 oil? Changed the oil with 10/40 I think it...

Re: Head Gasket Gone Costs for repair?

Thanks for the replies guys. I think if I go down the garage route I'll have to budget around about the £400-£500 mark. Which would allow for the gasket set, got to do the timing belt although the one thats on it has barely done 20k miles but was done 5 years ago, and also allow for a bit of ...

Head Gasket Gone Costs for repair?

Just trying to judge costs to replace my HG. Pretty sure it's gone, rusty brown water and steam out the exhaust and can feel "puffing" out the oil filler cap so maybe valve stems leaking too but no mayo under the cap. I'm more than capable of doing the job myself but health issues just now...

Re: Quick bit of help please?

Rather an unusual question if you don't mind me saying, if you are bleeding the clutch it's no different than bleeding the brakes and most people on here would have a standard Halford's type brake bleed kit to do that. Off the the top of my head it's probably about a 5mm diameter soft rubber hose sl...

Re: Poor braking.

Check your brake pedal up under the dash see if there are any signs of fluid at the back of the master cylinder where it pops through to the footwell. Long shot but my son had a similar problem when he fitted Integra brakes to a civic, if you put the calipers on the correct way up then the bleed nip...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v624/paddy1970/Woodsport4/DSCN0926.jpg Paul how about this for an idea from the back view I personally think you need something like a diffuser between the tailpipes. To me it would clean up the lines and conceal your gearbox mount a bit. Something along the lines ...
