Re: Dreaded insurance quote...

Still wondering why according to Houghton's Chaucer aren't insuring Supercharges this afternoon when they were this morning!! P Real mystery this and sorry for wasting your time with the suggestion. Grown-ups with SC's should be good risk and I've all sorts of stipulations on the Chaucer policy to ...

Re: Dreaded insurance quote...

Was paying last year £150 on an SC with 3.000 miles a year at market value. Recently restored the car and went to £4750 agreed value... which required another £35 a year. Classic policy with Chaucer in the Mark 1 Club scheme. Absolute delight to deal with. Contact Marianne at Houghtons Brokers on 01...

Re: Help required

AndyJ, I note your comments, about your problem. This is interesting. I have also noticed some water in my boot a few weeks ago and I have since been covering up the car with a car cover. I also noted some wiring in that area of the boot and was particulalrly concerned, hence the car cover. I've no...

Re: Help required

Guess with so many warning lights on your problem is not same as mine was. My green SC light started to flicker then eventually stayed on all the time...however the supercharger engagement itself was working normally, ie not on all the time. It turned out to be a wet boot. Had about 2 inches of wate...

Re: car mats

I recently got a pair off ebay for about £26 inc. postage and was quite surprised at how good they were. A good fit and reasonable finish. Matched in quite well against the OEM under carpet. Here's what I got... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-MR2-MK1-Car-Mats-New-Black-Carpet-2-pc-84-89-/180624115...

Re: Mr Clutch any good?

Had a clutch fitted by Mr Clutch, South Wimbledon 2 years ago in a Mark 2 for about £350. Did quite a good job, quite pleasant to deal with, got car back in 4 hours, it worked fine and he showed me all the old parts. I sold the car to a friend a year ago (Debs/unowho in Mark 1 Club) and to my knowle...

Re: Will these alloys fit?

Donna, just in case you're not familiar with spigot rings. They are sleeves that fit in the centre of the wheel to make wheel snug on the axle. Without these the wheel, just sits on the wheels nuts and that's not completely stable. Decent alloy wheel companies carry lots of different sizes of spigot...

Re: Mk1 Supercharger

I pay £129.15 for fully comp. 3K miles a year on an SC. It's insured with Houghtons on the Mark 1 Club Classic scheme with Chaucer. Agreed value doesn't cost any more, but you have to go through procedures to verify its value. Houghtons are good to deal with and are on tel. 01582 867763. There are ...

Re: rusted floor pan - is this the end??? :(

There's a bodyshop/restoration company in Strood who have done a lot of Mark 1's and have just restored mine. They are very good. They did my car for about two thirds of the price quoted by Dickersons. I think they work on £30 an hour. Can't remember Dickersons exact price - think it's £36 an hour. ...

Re: 38.64 mpg on 317.6 mile round trip!!

Brimming tank, checking odometer, motorway and bit of A roads, driving gently but cruising 70mph getting 42.5 mpg from standard pulley SC. In town, mixed driving, again brim to brim and checking mileage, it's doing 32 mpg. Now that's good going. With my big-pulley car I get 22-27mpg when I used it ...

Re: replacement supercharger stickers

I'm just putting SC decals on mine after respray. I have a set produced by Crazylegs Kev about 2 years ago. Kev was quite knowledgable so I'm pretty sure they're not available from Toyota. I assume they ceased with Toyota along with side stripes, hence several people remanufacturing them. There's st...

Re: MOT+FAIL=HELP

I've had calipers that have been freed up and work fine for a few months then stick again. Proper rebuild or exchange caliper is real fix. I've just used a set of the ebay (Stephen Brooks) repair panels. They are very well made and massively simplify the wheel arch repair. There's still fair bit of ...
