Re: How much would you value this car at?

Important to realise VIC is Vehicle Identity Check and has nothing to do with inspection of repair or validation of road worthiness. It checks things like the chassis and engine number, looking for signs of tampering on the serial number plates. It's to prevent stolen cars being given a new identity...

Re: DIY respray of the whole car - crazy or a good idea?

About twenty years ago at a show I saw an astonishing quality paint job on a Triumph Spitfire. The red paint had a depth, smoothness, consistency ...in short, quality far better than usual resprays or factory finishes. The owner told me had done it using 400 spray cans. The secret he said, was const...

Re: Front calipers mullered?

Good thread this. My SC goes in for MOT this week and feel it's likely to fail on a lazy caliper. Don't use it much and know I've one that can stick. I have the twin pot calipers so may be looking at this again later in week, with a view to freeing it up with new seals or seeking out an exchange cal...

Re: One more!

I kept mine with kph as I wanted to keep it original and quite like being different. It's a talking point at shows sometimes, which is quite nice. My documents at import show a week before it was registered it had an MOT. It failed on "sidelights not white" and "no warning light for r...

Re: One more!

Actually wondered about this Paul after posting. My SC came over 10 years ago and have all original documents, showing OK with speedo but think that is probably changed now. Keep hearing need to change it at import stage these days.

Re: One more!

Thanks for the information Alan. Wow...£2,0000 five years ago. Hear what you say about condition and exchange rates though. As you perhaps know you can run it OK here with kph speedo if you want. You quite quickly get to know what speeds are approximately what and it keeps a nice aspect of originali...

Re: One more!

Looks sensational- lucky you. Looks like no mods and in excellent condition. So have you been out in Japan and on you're way back? Very interesting to see car like this after so many years. Obviously we'd love to know some of the details and wonder how much car like this costs in Japan these days.

Re: Antenna/aerial location?

because your '87 car is an SC so therefor JDM spec. different markets, different specs UK spec 1A had a roof aerial UK spec 1B had a rear 1/4 mounted electric aerial, other markets kept the roof aerial right through production Nope - his '87 car has the pillar aerial because it is a tin top, not bec...

Re: Antenna/aerial location?

Than I´m wrong. But Mk1a singel sunroof definitely had the antenna in the roof and the 89 T-Bar I´ve parted out had the rear quarter one. The roof antenna looks ridiculous so I´ve welded the hole of it before the respray as well as the holes for the windshield washer nozzles. Took Mercedes Sprinter...

Re: SC newby question

I replaced my SC rear plate a few months ago. Car not here right now but old rear plate measures 13.25 inches wide 6.25 inches deep. The new one was slightly deeper ...probably 6.5 inches deep. It's one of the motorcycle plates - can't remember which one. Found you have to order at plate making shop...

Re: Rear wheel arches cost?

Yes, Ollie is right £2500 to include the three sections each side and respray. Had mine done last year - well more work than this but that was that element cost. Dickersons (Mark 1 Club popular garage) last year were charging £1250 for both sides, inc. parts with local spray and blend. Those are for...

Hi Zak. Well done getting this car. It was I think, owned by member on this forum BARNEY_MK1 at this time last year. He recently said he should never have sold it ...so think you've got a great example. Enjoy the experience. Like you I have odd problems with mine now and then but it's worth it :D . ...

Re: Munters SC Restoration Thread *pic heavy*

Yes, it's puzzling. Had a look at mine today. No signs of any previous fittings and and mine has no marks on rear carpet to suggest anything used to be there. Think I've got to fit one now as looks so bare up there without the trim box.

Re: Heads up Supercharge on eBay

Sadly both autos that have been advertised for a while now. I was discussing with two tone owner (Trev) about buying the original wheels before Christmas ...when it was advertised at about £5K! I gave up waiting for him to find a buyer when he'd be in a position to perhaps sell the wheels. Sad thing...

Re: Finally it's mine! Help needed with service advice and more!!!

No Paul, no petrol grade switch on our models (assume you're JDM - Japanese Domestic Market). Only certain markets had switch. Was I think, on dash to right of steering wheel. So you must use Super Unleaded. Know it's expensive but if you had the ignition retard button it would dull performance and ...

Can see you've really thought this through and though there will be times of doubt, you have bought one of the most sensational machines ever made IMO. I would recommend you go for the Jaguar oil that comes with syringe not Fensport. Though Fensport show a nice little plastic botle labelled SC oil i...

Re: Dreaded insurance quote...

Thanks for update - some really useful information here. £270 to include parked on road, 4.5K miles, commuting and ncb is significantly better than the restricted Chaucer Classic car terms. Will bear this in mind at renewal.

Well done doing all this legwork and giving others benefit of the result.
