Re: paypal & premium membership renewal?

Hmm, that shouldn't make any difference - if you've not validated your PayPal account ( they like to take some card details ) then PayPal may be blocking you making any further payment ?

Site offline 00:20 - 02:40 on 17/4

Caused by an upgrade to the database from MySQL 5.1 to 5.5 that didn't run smoothly.

Now sorted and everything should be working OK, there should be a small site speedup with the move to MySQl 5.5.

PM me if you see any errors.

Re: Should I?

A friend's Mk3 looks to have terminal oval bore syndrome - failed MOT on emissions, using lots of oil, what sounds to be bottom end nose about 5k rpm but otherwise OK. How realistic is a DIY fix for someone with time and experience rebuilding Mk1 4A-GE's ? I assume properly oval bores can't be reali...

April 2011 - Overnight Site work

Folks,

From 00:00 to 08:00 over the next month you may find the site is offline for maintainance or is running more slowly than normal.

This is because we're doing some preparation work for our new IMOC website incuding some trial migrations of content from the old site to the new.

Cheers

Ben

Re: Brake question

FWIW, I'd try a local motor factors. Brakes International have been where I've gone in the past every time for Mk1 and Mk2 parts and calipers. But after three separate sets of front brake disks each arrived with different defects, I'd say their source's quality had dropped massively. The facts were ...

Re: My 1998 Motor Show pics!

I can remember going to it as well on a press day - I actually got to sit in that car had also have some photos of it - I ended up posting some (prints) to the Austrialian MR2 IMOC. I can remember thinking it would be too small for me ( I'm 183cm ) as from the driver's side I ended up looking at the...

Re: Bluewater Jap Meet 29th Jan this Sat

FWIW, there used to be a regular meet a few years back ( where is Mike JC ! ) but sadly the Bluewater Management didn't want us there. The problem was that Club members would arrive and park up, but as the meet grew it started getting unwanted attention from kids on scooters and boy racers driving i...

Re: MK3 model year changes...

FWIW, it doesn't hurt economy that much. My MPG figures are more or less the same as the NA - eg I've got 36mpg happily on motorway speed cruises. on track, it does get down to ~10-12 MPG but I've never had it as low as 6 or 7mpg that I could manage on my old Mk2 Tubo. So, ~240 bhp, good economy and...

Re: Dizzy cap? That will be £390+ VAT at Toyota!

It may come as part of the whole distributor assembly, but you can buy it separately - I bought lots in the past when making Copper Contact Dizzy caps up for Group Buy's. I don't have the part number to hand, but FWIW 19101-88364 used to be the part number for a UK 96-on NA, and I think that it also...

Re: REV3 Turbo on track *advice please*

Got to agree with Paul - I did a lot of trackdays (10+?) with my old Rev2 with a Hybrid turbo @ 13-14psi, and stock internals and ECU. Timing was @ 7-8 deg BTDC on that engine for the peak of 16psi I would run. Never spent more than 20-25minutes per hour on track, and never had any problems. FWIW, t...

Possible site slowdowns

Folks, got this from our hosting providers - the long and the short of it is that webpages may take a little longer than normal to load from some ISPs. If you have pages that fail to load, or take a long time to load, try reloading the page. We have been just been made aware of an issue with part of...

Site Slowdowns for testing: 29/10 - 15/11 before 8am

Folks, As part of the new site launch, we're doing some performance and load testing of the new site in the early morning over the next couple of weeks. These tests will be running in the period 4am - 8am and will not run during the day when the majority of people use the site. This will mean that i...

Re: Replacement alloys and tyres advice

Good advice here - I've got the later 15/16" rims with Neovas. Grip and progression when they do let go is excellent, allows you to balance the car into 4 wheel drifts if really pushed hard and opposite lock just a throttle prod away. Only thing is that this setup on a standard car can be a lit...

Re: knocking/clunking noise from front of car (Not Droplinks)

If its not drop links - then balljoints and steering arm end balljoints would be next on my list. I did have a rattle from the steering rack on my old Mk1 - I got a new steering arm drumstick to fit ( the drumstick joint had a little free play on the old rack ) but never got around to it as it never...

[All] [Generic] Toad Alarm Help - A51s

Does anyone have any information about programming these, and in particular how you set / unset the chirp and hazard flash when arming or disarming the alarm. It looks like the chip when armed has got disabled and the alarm warning light inside the car is on continuously which makes me think it is i...
