:D

Think of it as equivalent of having to change the head gasket on one bank of a V6 ;)

Re: Server Disk Failed : Site Slow/ phpBB Critical Errors - 3,4 July

OK, new disk went in at 1pm and the RAID array rebuild has been happening since.

If you see any issues later today, post here.

Cheers

Re: Server Disk Failed : Site Slow/ phpBB Critical Errors - 3,4 July

More site downtime this morning was related to this failure.

We're talking to our hosting providers and looking to swap the disk some time today, which will mean the server will be unreachable for upto 30 minutes, and then slower than normal for the following 4-6 hours as the RAID array rebuilds.

Server Disk Failed : Site Slow/ phpBB Critical Errors - 3,4 July

Folks, We've lost one of the two disks that the IMOC server runs from, and until we get that swapped out ( I'm expecting Monday 4th, or Tuesday at the latest ) you may find the site at times running very slowly, or even not responding and giving errors such as : phpBB : Critical Error Could ...

Re: How to advice - change front & rear brake pads

Just did my front pads and discs at the weekend to cure .. I got quite a shock when I removed the brake disks. The inner braking surface of both front disks had completely glazed over with only a very small ring of metal near the centre of the disk which looked to be 'in use'. The outer surface look...

Re: How to advice - change front & rear brake pads

As Dan says, the brakes are fantastic on the Mk3. I've got a set of pattern disks and MrT pads waiting to go onto mine this weekend if the weather holds off. However, fairly much top of my list of Modifications to make to a Roadster would be Goodridge brake lines - it makes the brake pedal firmer an...

Re: MOT : High CO readings at fast idle after rebuild ...

Cheers. I also suspect that it would need more than 20 miles for the ECU to have completed its learning cycle. Looks like the next retest needs to be booked ~ 60 miles away so the trip can be done via backroads to give the ECU chance to complete the self learning process for the different engine loa...

Re: MOT : High CO readings at fast idle after rebuild ...

Cheers Guys. Only slight issue is that having rebuilt the engine, he's reluctant to load up the engine given it is effectively being 'run in'. After the rebuild, it is one of the quietest 1zz's I've heard in terms of engine noise at idle. However, going for an 'Italian tune up' may be the only way t...

MOT : High CO readings at fast idle after rebuild ...

A friend has just rebuilt his 1ZZ with a brand new new short block from Mr.T, and a whole host of new bits and pieces ( Timing chain, spark plugs, o2 sensors, Clutch etc etc ). The exhaust manifold / Precats have been replaced with a Toyosport Decat manifold, and the car has just the main cat presen...

Re: Identify these Magic Boxes...Please :)

Impossible to tell I'm afraid. Without the piggyback the car may not even start - eg the Unichip on mine breaks the loom wire normally used for spark timing in order to advance / retard it. Without it there, you get no spark.

From memory back when we ran an IMOC day at Elite, they fixed the rear camber on a Mk3 with some crash bolts to sort the handling.

Source for a Cylinder head?

Any recommendations as to where I could pick up a good condition, used 1zz head?

This would be to go on a brand new 1zz bottom end for a friend who is rebuilding his engine after the original failed.

Re: Good suspension specialist in Birmingham?

Sounds like you've got good tyres and have spent money in the right places :+: Those alignments though are odd - are they from the same place? The one at the top of the page shows a little toe in at the rear ( good ) but the 'before' at the bottom shows toe out, which would explain the twitchy rear ...

Re: Good suspension specialist in Birmingham?

What tyres are you using, and have you done any other modifications to the suspension - or it is original ( and how many years old ? ) That alignment looks fairly sensible to me - a little toe at the front and rear and equal throughout otherwise. For alignments - I've always travelled to Elite in Da...

Re: Should I?

Spot-on, you'd need a new short block at least, and that's assuming the precats were either gutted before the oval bores or are still 100%, else you could have more serious damage throughout the engine. Replacing the engine isn't actually too bad if you've got access to an engine lift and pit (and ...
