Re: How well does an MR2 perform on track?
Been looking at several posts and videos on here and I really fancy a mk1 as track motor. I've seen loads for peanuts on Autotrader too. Is the mk1 N/A any good or would it be a lot better to get a SC? Matt, I've had and used on track my Mk2 Turbo for a few years, and have recently bought a cheap M...

Re: MR2 Turbo Running Costs
Just make sure you take your time finding a good one.
I know people who've paid
£2k for a modded 1991 car in a bad state
- to only then pay another 2k or so getting it sorted out

Re: Running Costs
Thanks for the advice so far!! In my case, the car would be left standard and I do approximately 5000 miles a year. Once I purchase the MR2 Turbo, I will be planning to change the timing belt if not done recently, but I can do this with my other halfs dad, (he's a 20 + years in the trade mechanic)....

Nurburgring Trip, June July 2005
The dates for the Circuit opening times are yet to be confirmed for 2005, but provisionally, who'd be interested in an IMOC trip over to the Nurburgring in June or July ? Paul Port posted up these outline costs for the Easter Trip on the IMOC-UK List - prices would potentially be the same for the Ju...

Re: How well does an MR2 perform on track?
The tubby is quite a heavy car so consumables costs need to be considered. Can't agree, I've done two trackdays, and found it to be very good on consumables, infact, my brakes and tyres are in such good shape from the last one, they'll easily do another track day in Febuary. It all really depends h...

Re: AVC-r probs again! Self learning
I got so pisseed off with mine doing this i removed it and had the car unichipped instead.... Unichips though don't do any clever feedback of boost levels - they just do a fixed duty cycle across all revs - so when its colder and air is 'denser' you get more boost than in the summer :? AVC-Rs are m...

Re: A new noise since new caliper fitted.. help!
I hope it isn't the pads moving under braking, they should fit ok shouldn't they? Hmmmm Ryan - it could be that the pads are moving around in the calipers a bit - Toyota sell an Anti Squeal shim kit for the Mk2 which also includes shims you can put under the springs to make the fit with the pads be...

Re: How well does an MR2 perform on track?
Great stuff. I had a feeling there might be quite a bit of understeer from them. Does anyone know where I can download any 'in-car' MR2 trackday footage? Or if not just videos of SW20's track racing? Cheers Matt Matt, I've done loads of trackdays in my Mk2 - got lots of footage from Anglesey, Nurbu...

Re: Tyre Pressures on Rev3 15's
Hola All, Right, a HUGE thanks to Chris from Doncaster for the mint Rev 3 alloys he sold me last night! It now saves me trying to find some 14" rubber for my Rev 1's! The tyres these alloys came with are Nankangs on the rear 225/50/15, loads of tread so not bothered about brand at the mo'. The...

Re: Essex - Rolling Road
Sounds good Ben, £10 cheaper than EA as well. Even though the kit is older I take it that it's in good nick? Yep, its all in good nick, but quite old - you get a plot that gives you your peak Power vs speed as power runs are done in 4th gear. You can work back from this to get torque figures using ...

Re: Frozen Handbrake - Car stuck on drive
Hi guys, In a bit of a pickle this morning. I can't get my car off my drive for the handbrake is frozen on well and truly! It's my own fault I should have anticipated the cold snap and left it in gear instead. I just wondered if anyone has any tips, advice or experience on how to get the brakes un-...

Re: Bloody understeer and strange handling.
Hi, I'm new to mr2's and cannot belive how happy my car is to go straight on instead of going round the bend like i tell it. When I bought the car it had aftermarket 16" wheels with crazy size tyres (205/55/16 all round!) which I replaced with standard 15's with Yoko a-022's. <snip> Anyone got...
