Re: [Mk2] [NA] lead order

Odd that no one else has piped up on this one.

Yes cylinder 1 is nearest the timing belt. Then next cylinder is #2 then # 3 with the cylinder nearest the gearbox being cylinder #4. The leads then go on the dizzy cap with the corresponding number.

Re: ......Engine out and Head Gasket replacement........

All the orings and gaskets you can do. T stat. Alt belt. Vac lines. ECT sensor (and maybe oil pressure sensor). Dizzy cap and rotor arm rather than leads unless your leads are shot or aftermarket ones. Tidy up loom with new wrap. Clean all earth points, including checking the condition of earth lead...

Re: wheel alignment and geometry

Yea, I had thought about the wheels but they have been checked and are ok thankfully. Coincidentally, my caliper had gone too so initially I thought it was that. I have had a new one put on but the vibrating is still there, hmm Now the wear on the inside 1/4 of the tyre could be down to too much ca...

Re: what press needed for bearings and bushes

Unless you do this sort of thing often your own press may be a bit of overkill. You can pick up a bearing splitter/puller set for £25 ish which is what i used for removing the old bushes or you can just burn them out. This is the set up i used to press them out (suitable sized thick washer on the en...

Re: rev 2 spoiler end piece ripped off - options?

Hi there I was under the impression that a 3rd party's insurance can't write off your car, only your insurance can. You are intitled to have it repaired professionally to the condition it was prior to the accident. The only issue with going thro the insurance is it will still be on record at time of...

Re: Revs hanging up when hot???

Sounds like you may have worked it out yourself.

BUT whilst the TB is off you may as well give the idle control valve a clean with throttle body cleaner.

Re: Anyone had this clutch before?

I bought a fast road clutch from them and it lasted about 20 miles before the friction plate fell appart and the fingers on the pressure plate went uneven. Further to this it took about 2 months to get a replacement even tho i wanted a refund. Could have pressed for the refund but just wanted to end...

Re: Oil Leak from somewhere

If you have the n/a the seal is the one with the part number Part number: 90311-35019 for both sides The turbo box has different seals each side. Obviously you will need to drain the oil out of the box before changing the seal so it would be a good time to renew this (2.6L capacity for the n/a box I...

Re: Getting to know you

The release bearing is part of the cltch assembly essentially. It just slides on the output shaft of the gearbox. When the clutch pedal is pressed it pushes a lever that pushes this bearing against the pressure plate. Whilst the car has been stood it has not been moved and so has possibly rusted in ...

Re: Braided brake line question

You will see that the front and rears in the kit are a slightly different length. There should also be a slight bend in the banjo union on the rear hoses. The rear will also need something to secure it to the inner arch as the oe hoses have a bracket built into the union at this point. P clips would...

Re: Newbie style questions [1990 Rev1 N/A]

For the high idle problems i would change your coolant temp sensor, they are only a few quid. Obviously you are going down the correct route of making sure the ignition components are upto scatch. As mentioned above, if the new ect and making sure the coolant is topped up and bled doesn't sort it ou...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Anti roll bar front mount to subframe rust.

I have recently found on one side, my arb bracket has been welded on so i'm gonna get it cut off. Then get a plate cut out and replaced with a plate with the holes in the right place and nuts welded on the inside to bolt into. There has been a couple of threads on mr2oc about it and in their ky2 in ...
