Re: Checking shifter cables for wear - popping out of 4th
The other thing to mention is the square brass bush on the shifter mechanism on the gearbox. this can wear also. Just unbolt the levers turn the bush 90 degrees and refit the levers.

Re: Body kit paint prep
I did the wing on my panda with rattle cans. You can go straight on to flashed off base with the clear but I found d it better to let the base cure then hit it with 800 wet then clean off, tack and clear. For the clear I used an advertised as 2k in a can. First coat dust and let flash then second co...

This post I made a while back may help a little.

As for the ignitor, I haven't seen many posts over the last 6 years that have pointed to ignitor failure. Usually it is coil and/or earthing through the rusty bracket issues.

Re: Body kit paint prep
If no reshaping or evening out needs to be done and you are just keying for primer then a course scotchbrite would do. But you can key with 400 wet and dry used wet. Then wipe down and dry thoroughly. wipe with panel prep and finally tack rag. Then spray primer in thin coats building up 3 or 4 layer...

Re: Checking shifter cables for wear - popping out of 4th
If you take the cables off their shafts at the gearbox end (simply remove clevis pin and slide off) you will see they have a rubber bush with a thin brass insert tube. This tube wears and distorts over time http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i369/janolsson/mr2%20project/gearbushtop.jpg These can be...

If you insist on removing the AC then leave the pressure switch in the frunk plugged in as without it or a bridge the rad fans will run constantly.

Whilst the head is off you could do some port matching/polishing, or simply clean and relap all the valves.

Re: Rev1 3SGE Compression Test Results
Those figures are fine. For coolant loss, start by filling and bleeding the system thoroughly. If you have oe rad then there is a bleed nipple on it you can attach a length of clear tubing on and run it up and hang it from open frunk. Also a bleed nipple in the frunk on the heater valve to do the sa...

To rule out or confirm the alt all you need to do is remove the alt belt and run the engine, but only for a couple of minutes as the battery will not be charging. If it isn't the alt check at the nuts and bolts you can find, maybe one of the cam cover bolts is loose as the rubber washers perish. Oth...

Another option if you have somewhere to work on the car is; Buy a used MIG and an angle grinder and cutting discs. Practice on some scrap metal for a while and watch YouTube to learn to weld. Then patch or properly repair yourself with a big bag of self satisfaction. I did my driver's side including...

Re: Rusty sills on a MR2 Turbo
There will be plenty of surface rust on the inner sill and there are also reinforcement box sections that will require some rot cutting out and fabbing up. The lip for the floor for the outer sill to weld to will be solid. The rear inner arch will likey need work as might the front end behind the wi...

Might be worth giving luke a bell at pacific works Hemel Hempsted. He may be able to do it while you wait and its only a quick blast down the M1. You could even get some drifting in while you are there.

Hey Suki
Post a wanted ad in the parts wanted section.
You could try ringing SBits or TCB.
I don't think the fe manifold fits
Don't be tempted by the generic shiny ones on ebay as you will lose power and torque.
