Re: best wet/dry tyres for new series.
The Avon ZZR would appear to be the current 1B top choice for speed events in the softest compound
(A24).
Not sure about the other compounds, but I'd give them a try over R888s.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Re: Turbo Manifold
Yes, straight down, not straight up :D ?? It would sit the turbo on top of the manifold unless I'm being particularly blind today. The way up it is in the photo is the way up it would be in the car going by the engine mounting face (not the turbo end). I owe you an apology, it does indeed sit turbo...

Realised it sits the turbo on top, so probably bulkhead issues.
Oh well!

Sorry if this has been covered already, any reason why this wouldn't work in an AW11 arrangement:

I've got the same thing, haven't found anything to clean it with that works without taking the blue colouration out.
Interesting to hear if anyone knows a trick!

I bought a plated mild steel flexi from a local place for about
£20 and migged it into the stainless magnex system on mine.

Re: front drop links
Sad news. Came back from another 1000 mile round trip to the lakes (now nearly 13k miles since fitting) and it had developed a rattle from the driver side front. The lower rose joint has slight play however none of the others are showing any signs of wear whatsoever. Looks like some water has got in...

You paid around 200 of your hard earned quids just for a set of droplinks Alex  If I change mine I'll go rosejoints Rosejointed links will last about 5 minutes. Fit the Toyota ones and you can forget about them. I bought OEM droplinks, I used them on three cars over 5 years. 12 months and 10...

Re: Springs - Eiback to stock
Have you reduced the length of the bumpstops on the front? I found that I had to remove about an inch of the bump stop as with it standard length you would not be utilising more than about 10mm of spring travel. That should let you back the dampers off to a more sensible level without bottoming out ...

Re: Front bearing removal
I've done them in the past by grinding through with an angry grinder until you see the metal blueing
(generally about 0.5mm thick), then chucking it in a bucket of cold water.
Take it very slowly! The race generally cracks down the middle of the thin material, leaving the hub unharmed.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

In the above regs, my car wouldn't be eligible for any of the classes.
I wonder why that is?

I don't know of any championships where Modified Series and Modified Specialist compete directly as the MSA have now clearly defined the catagories. Re: Sprinting regulations for lots of interesting cars
Cartledge, that's just because the classes have been amalgamated. You could end up in a 'class' with anything due to that. I'm in a class with a Mallock (Sports Libre) and an OMS (Racing Cars) this weekend, but that doesn't mean that i'm actually competing against them. I don't know of any champion...

Re: Sprinting regulations for lots of interesting cars
Peter, My car is a bike engined 'kit' car built solely for speed events. Hence I run in modified specialist production (for chassis made in a quantity of 20 in a 12 month period). I haven't competed with Series Production cars in it (in local or national events) and neither did I compete with Specia...
