Alternator Regulator
Hi guys, Does anyone know the part number for the alternator regulator, please? Recommissioning my car after it's been off the road for 4 years in storage and the alternator is failing to charge. Done the usual checks, which point to the regulator being the culprit. Think you can pick a regulator up...

Re: Standard Mk1b Teardrop Wheels wanted
£10 collected or £15 delivered? Not sure what the scrap value would be! I need to get my garage cleared out, so would just like to get rid of them. As I said, think they are pretty rough, but would be fine to practice on. They still have tyres, though doubt they are any good now. I'm in Bowthorpe, b...

Re: Standard Mk1b Teardrop Wheels wanted
I have a set of Mk1a wheels in the back of the garage somewhere. They are pretty rough as I remember, but might be good to just practice on? Wouldn't want much for them as would be glad of the space!

Re: Brake caliper sticking - advice needed please.
I bought some new old stock recon callipers a few years ago and the slider boots had perished where they had sat around on a shelf. I was able to buy the boots separately from my local Mr T for a few pounds. They should be able to look up the part numbers for you. Think I used an old screwdriver to ...

Hello Steve, I'm please to report the D158RAM is alive & well, & has lived with me for about the last four or five years now :D Spent a couple of years off the road, but this was due to threatened unemployment & job insecurity, rather that any fault with the car - I took it off the road ...

Re: CLUTCH Identification? Which to buy?
Could you get both sizes from your local motor factor, then return the one you don't need?
The one I tend to use (L&R Norwich) are usually happy to do this & supply Blueprint parts as a rule.
Might be worth trying your local one?

Love the front splitter mod :thumleft: How have you got on with speed bumps though? Mine is totally stock, but still struggle with some of the ones around here & have to negotiate them very carefully :pale: Does anyone know if there is supposed to be a maximum height & gradient for speed bum...

Re: where can i buy wheel nuts
Hi mk1alex,
Which nuts did you get from Revolution? I need to get a full set to go with the Mk1a wheels I just bought. The nuts they came with are a bit tatty!
Cheers,
Andy

Re: Tyre recommendations (standard size)?
Thanks for the replies so far :) I want to stick with the standard wheel size as I'm getting some 'triangle' alloys to make the car original again, otherwise may well have considered going to 15s. Had not heard of Camskills before, seems a very useful site for service parts as well, so will try to r...

Tyre recommendations (standard size)?
Hi, can anyone recommend tyres for the standard size wheels?
Car is completely standard suspension wise, and will just be used for normal everyday driving, so not really after any road legal track focused type tyres!
Just some that are good all round & not too expensive
Thanks, Andy

Yes, thanks for the heads up
Have left them feedback in the Trader section as well.
Thanks also to everyone who made suggestions too, it's always worth ringing round a few for comparisons!

Rob at Houghtons Insurance
Gave me the best quote for insuring my Mk1 on a classic 3000 mile policy, around £130 compared to the £245 quoted by Adrian Flux who I currently insure my main car with. Rob at Houghtons was very helpful & friendy, and didn't try to 'push' the policy on me when I initially rang up for the quote....

Re: Insurance advice, 2nd car, classic policy.
Just to update, Houghtons gave me the best deal, around £130 for the year. This was for a 2nd car classic policy, 3000 miles a year. The guy I dealt with, Rob, was very helpful and friendly, and didn't try to push the policy on me there and then when I initially got the quote, unlike my insurer for ...

Insurance advice, 2nd car, classic policy.
I'm in the process of recommissioning my Mk1 (been in storage for a while) with a view to MOTing it & returning it to the road soon. I rang Adrian Flux for a quote on Saturday (currently insure my everyday car with them) & was quoted £245, which I thought was a bit steep... This was for a li...

How to crank engine over without starting
Hi there,
My car has been sat for a while, so want to crank it over without starting it to build up a bit of oil pressure and make sure things are well lubed
Is there a fuse I can pull to disable the fuel pump? I can obviously just remove the HT centre lead to stop the spark?
Cheers, Andy

Re: Oil Cooler Pipe Replacement
Thanks
The pipes felt quite hard with no 'give', so am guessing they are ripe for replacement... Will see if I can check the dizzy ring as well though.
Do you remember what clips you used? Would Jubilee clips be a better option?
