Re: Just bought a Shed! * Pictures added!*
Should my car have ABS or not? It's a 96 UK car as above, there is no light on the dash and the wheels lock up when you hit the brakes! I just thought a car of this age would have it... could be a late rev3. all the lights have had work so hard to say if it's a 3 or a 4. got a pic of the engine? th...

Power could be lots of things from worn ignition parts, rotten fuel, air leak or any manner of other stuffs. check for error codes, inspect the dizzy cap and plugs, go from there. rust.. pics are a must, no point in guessing. pull carpet up in the boot and check behind wheel arches. in the cabin, ta...

Re: Rear firewall thickness
it's about the same as the rest of the floorpan. spreader plates would be a must. If you are doing this to a road car then think twice, fixed harnesses are a hassle in the real world. Ticket machines, reaching for things, seeing out at odd junctions and constantly adjusting the harnesses for passeng...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Replacing the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
what he said ^ there are 2 sensors, one with the multi-pin which is for the ecu temp. the other with the single pin is he gauge sensor. Leave the rad cap on while swapping over the sensor, it slows the poring out of coolant. You will have to top up and bleed the system after (quickly) changing the s...

Re: MK2 Standard Brake discs
I use the Pagid plain discs, great and fairly cheap. Last set was from Halfords with a trade card, but before that used eurocarparts for the same items.
£130 isn't too bad. Think the Halford offering with the trade card was about 110.

It's probably a gummed up actuator/cam gear. There are some good youtube vids on the topic.

Re: How to repair?
there is a seller on ebay that does inner and outer sill sections ready made. not that expensive. other parts you'll have to make the patch yourself. have a look at the OC's guide to fixing the sills, it will help. maybe google other people who have had to do this repair. seeing other people's metho...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Removing Engine loom from Fusebox
some of the plastic is attached to the loom so the whole loom part needs to move with it as it's lifted out. That caught me out while I was trying to hold the loom and pull up the plastic.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Air con removed..radiator fans on constantly
there must be another trigger, as it's the sensor in the frunk, not being there that sets the system off with all fans blowing.
I'm just trying to think what else might cause this.. I'll have a poke at the diagram for you.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Air con removed..radiator fans on constantly
this exact fix worked on my rev2 and rev4 cars.
have you tried plugging the sensor into the plug?
the other lose plugs you found, one of them wasn't for the rad temp sensor was it?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Air con removed..radiator fans on constantly
real easy fix. Either leave the sensor on the loom in the frunk or bridge the 2 pins with some wire. you don't have to bridge the sensor, it's the plug on the loom that needs bridging. The non AC cars have a tiny plug that does this bridging but 2 spade connectors and a bit of wire works just as we...
