I'm replacing the bulbs with 501 smds which seems easy and if the results aren't as good I will try LED strips.
I don't have the car as it's been worked on....so hoping to slot this in as soon as I get it back.

I'm having a go at my heater control unit lighting mod and need to get a power supply to test it....does anyone know what Amperage it needs to be?

I then took 2 of the same bulbs and removed the blastic holder at the bottom, then took heater control apart and fit these inside, soldered the legs of the bulb directly to the heater circuit board, and also had to modify the light reflector to get the bulb to fit but you can see the light spread i...

There is another alternative by using led strips which I've seen gives great results. It's fiddly from what I remeber though...I'll dig out all info I have and share as I'm planning to give this a go in the coming months.
Have this weird issue on mine. Relays, fuses all checked OK. The root of the issue has been found to be the whole stalk unit. Check each wire in the unit's loom. I had to replace mine so I now got it and will soon install. I will let you know how it goes.
Is soldering leds on a strip the only way to get a better light spread in the heater controls? No smd type leds/bulbs that could do this without any other mods....?

Thank you for all the feedback. Im leaning towards the konis as Im afraid that B6s may be too stiff. Now it is going to be a headache trying to find these rebuildable struts if Im not mistaken they were in 89-92 turbos
