Re: MR2 Championship - Flat floors

Thanks for the info, custom job it is!

Flat floor should benefit high speed stability, top speed and fuel economy. Will let you know if it does anything noticable when I get my project moving. Only 1 month till the ring....

MR2 Championship - Flat floors

Does anyone know if the guys in the MR2 championship run a flat floor or just use the standard plastic undertray? I'm planning to make a marine ply floor for the MR2 and was hoping someone has already done it!

Re: Standard MK2 tyre sizes

I'm just concerned people here may be going for skinny tyres on the rear and think they can drive around the inherent issues with this...

Sorry I'm overly passionate!

Interesting you say that, I think most people would think the MR2 has a tendancy to understeer if anything.

Seriously? Did you actually read my post?

Re: Standard MK2 tyre sizes

The problem is weight transfer and grip level. A wider tyre provides more tractive effort vs newton of force pushing down compared to a skinnier tyre. If you keep the same brake distribution but stick skinny tyres on the back you will have a tendency to lock the rear wheels. If you're lucky and are ...

Re: Standard MK2 tyre sizes

Rather nervous of the idea of "I know it's bad so I will drive slowly".

Personally, I'd rather have more grip than less, never know when you have to stamp on the brakes, car will have a greater tendency to swap ends with skinny tyres on the back...

Re: 17" Supra Wheels saga

Is the car for show or for track? Based on the link above looks like you would ideally want to come down an inch on rim width, but if you aren't driving on the limit it shouldn't be too bad.

Auxiliary Belts

I think the 3SGE has 2 auxiliary belts, one running the alternator other running the AC.

Does the one running the AC also run other things such as oil pump or water pump?

Looking at deleting the AC from my car...

Re: Worst thing a garage has done to your car?

Got the girlfriend's car booked in to get the oil and oil filter changed only, or so I thought. They took all the brakes off to "inspect" and knackered the rears in the process and charged us for a full set of rear brakes and their time for replacing them! Complained, got 5% knocked off, c...

Re: Possible to do a compression test on a stripped engine?

As mentioned earlier a compression test is good for comparing each cylinder to see if one is low. Therefore it should be ok to do it hand cranking so long as you can repeat the same process on the compression stroke of each piston. Have a go!
