Re: project rev5 BUK

Thanks bud. They don't look too bad but were a bit of a pain to get right! I like the white numbers but the red bits could be a little better. Both ours look better than the standard dull night time lighting. I like the chrome rings on yours and the logo - nice touch. Keep up the modding. It's addic...

Re: project rev5 BUK

Looking good. How did you get your dials red at night? I tried with replacement led bulbs but they made the dials look pink. I then used red film behind the dial faces and painstakingly cut out the white numbers. Here's a night shot: http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w482/sbl103/2014E14F-D7B0-4077...

Re: project rev5 BUK

Great looking car. You can always do what I did and remove the UK half-moon reflectors. Requires the use of an oven and some patience! Completely remove the red section, take out the reflector, and then put the red bit back. This guide is great for the oven technique (although you don't remove the o...

This info on the vsv looks interesting. You probably already know this stuff though.

Re: Running problems, at a wits end please help.

I used to go to the essex meets with Mark and lynn all the time in my Mk1 Mr2. I put a supercharged lump in it and kept up with the turbo guys on the meets . 180bhp in a mk1 = lotta go with no weight. I was trying to get the car ready to go to this months one but failed. I believe it is ha...

Re: Running problems, at a wits end please help.

Sounds like you are getting somewhere. I know my way around most of the MK2 (suspension, brakes, etc.) but Engine's, especially the Turbo (only had it 6 weeks, NA's before that), are a bit of a magic art at the moment! You should come along to the Essex meets. Have you reset the ECU after your tinke...

I'm in Great Bentley but mines a Rev3 Turbo (conversion) so probably not much help.

Re: Reducing cockpit exhaust drone

I like the idea of the dynamat for sound proofing. Just a note of caution regarding foam in those cavities. The original toyota installed triangular shaped foam tends to sink to the bottom of the cavity and presumably by way of absorbing condensation, and not drying out properly, cause rust to start...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Gen 7 Celica steering wheel on a Mk2 Rev3

Yes, direct fit. Had one on a previous rev3. Same wheel as the MR2 MK3. Had a gap of about 1/2" between wheel/hub but not bad. The Celica wheel has an airbag. My rev3 didn't so just left it in place but unplugged. You could probably remove it but not sure about that.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo Boost Gauge wiring guide....

My car situation is similar to yours. However I want to keep the battery charging gauge and retain my original Rev5 clocks. I'd like to perhaps fit a separate boost gauge (no idea how to install this yet though). From what I have read the standard Toyota boost gauge isn't actually very good. I think...

Re: new mr2 owner couple of questions

Sticky piston or gunged up/rusted hand brake lever. Not too difficult to successfully rebuild rear calipers (Biggred does kits) if you are confident. Special tool is about £6 from Toyota. Collected the car today. Great to meet Chris. Top bloke to deal with and fantastic car. Nearly 200 miles back to home and never missed a beat.

I'll be keeping the car pretty much as it is with only a few minor mods.

Thanks again Chris and good luck with your business.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Brake pedal feels soft after brake overhaul

Yes, some mechanics (not familiar with the MR2) may not realise about the winding them back out to set the rear calipers/handbrake self-adjusting mechanism. In theory it is possible to install incorrectly. Yes, check the pedal height and only adjust if necessary. A soft initial pedal could mean the ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Brake pedal feels soft after brake overhaul

Couple of thoughts from my experience with these brakes: 1, Did you wind the rear pistons in all the way then out by 180 degrees to set the handbrake mechanism correctly? I assume you set the rear pads up correctly and aligned the pins on the pads with the grooves on the pistons. 2, Check the brake ...

Re: [FINALIZED] MR2 MK2 Rev3 Red T-Bar 1994 NA - Sold

This really is a great looking MR2. If it wasn't for the lure of a Turbo I'd definitely keep it. Real head turner in very good condition for an 18 year old car. Certainly worth a look if you want a shiny red sports car. Cheap to insure and run! :thumleft:
