Re: Rust and The SW20

So what are we talking price wise, in a worst case type scenario? Would hate to lose my car to rust, the rest of the bodywork is in great condition for a car of its age, and the engine is still strong despite having covered nearly 130k. No idea what I would replace it with. im sure it cost Rob (see...

Rust and The SW20

The Rev2 yet again passed its MoT at the weekend, very pleased. However, the sills are getting pretty bad towards the rear now. They were highlighted as an advisory and the tester told me that they will almost certainly fail next year. So, having heard snippets of rust horror stories over the years,...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Aftermarket Downpipe Bracket

Anybody know where I can get an adaptor so I can use the brace/bracket that supports the cat to now support an aftermarket downpipe?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Air Fuel Ratio 18.7 at Idle!

Turned the idle mixture adjustment screw a full turn which brought the ratio down to under 17. If anything though it seems to be running too rich now. Will get it on the ramp at the weekend, see if the exhaust is blowing, if not I'll try a new lambda.

[Mk2] [Turbo] Air Fuel Ratio 18.7 at Idle!

Folks, suspected my car has been running lean for some time, discovered to that on idle the air/fuel ratio sits around the 18.7 mark. CO2 is around 0.214. This is with standard injectors and regulator, Blitz fuel pump (according to my receipts) Nur spec exhaust and Greddy IC. Only running 12psi. (no...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] When does a mr2 stop being a sports car and become a hypercar or something

Its almost impossible to define the "supercar" many have tried, the same number have failed :) There are simply too may factors involved, its not enough for a car to be significantly faster than 99% of other cars on the road, or even significantly more expensive. Somehow a supercar, just.....

Air Con System Overhaul

The air con system in my car has been defunct for a good few years now. The A/C radiator is literally falling apart apart, and being as it is 20 years old, it uses the old style gas. My question really is, has anybody overhauled their A/C system, had newer seals retro-fitted to use modern A/C gas, h...

Re: Getting bored after 8 years

Personally my solution to getting bored with any MR2 is change it for another, LOL. On the other hand, you appreciate it much more if you get a different daily driver and keep it for weekend fun. exactly the novalty would were off very quickly for me if i drove it all the time, its nice to drive bu...

Re: Getting bored after 8 years

There are lots of cars I'd love to own, but very few that I feel could replace the MR2. The only ones that would do that for me would be Lotus Esprit, 996 Turbo, Supra RZ, NSX, Superchaged S2000 or 350Z. Most of those are way out of my reach at the mo' so for now I'll stick with the MR2.

Can the pipework by accessed from the frunk or will I have to do a contortionist routine to get under the dash?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Fuel pressure regulators

I will test the pressure before I buy anything. Does anybody know if the Rev3 regulator is different to the Rev1/2? Rev1/2 regulators are physically different to Rev3+ (the vac pipe is in different position in relation to the fuel outlet) And IIRC, base fuel pressure is slightly higer on Rev3+. 36-...

Drivers side air vent not working

The air vent on the drivers side (immediately to the right of the instrument cluster) isn't working. Any likely suspects?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Fuel pressure regulators

Haven't tested it, I dont have the kit. Has a nasty habit of blowing knock sensors when ambient temps are cold as if the fueling can't match the slight increase in boost afforded by cold dense air. Even blew a knock sensor when I first installed my GReddy SMIC. As im looking to increase boost pressu...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Fuel pressure regulators

I'm looking at changing the fuel pressure regulator on my Rev 2 Turbo, im sure its running lean. What is the standard regulator rated too? Did the later revisions havea higher pressure regulator or am I gonna have to go down the aftermarket route?

Cheers

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] HELP Engine Problem, Bucking/Hesitiation at high RPM-Cured I Hope

Thanks for posting the Cure :thumleft: people rarely do, myself included im ashamed to say. Definitely worth giving your ignition componants a refresh, especially if you don't know how long they've been on the car. Tubbies are very sensitive to worn ignition componants, especially HT leads. Its a go...
