Turned the gain up from 11 to 18 seems to be the best. any more and it gets really spikey! 4th and 5th seem to hold the boost on longer, 3rd isnt bad and with 2nd and 1st it never seems to hit full boost? Is this because the engine just revs faster than it can build up pressure in these gears? As I ...

Well I solved the mystery of the high boost! Took the car out to have a fiddle with the boost settings and give the new brake pads a few more heat cycles before the track day and... you guys are never going to let me live this down.. but I made a discovery, its not 1.4bar, but 14psi!! yes thats righ...

Yeah I forgot to add I have intercooler etc etc as well. Just wondering how much boost the internals of the engine can take before things start to get a bit dangerous. !

Just out of interest, mine is running 1.4 bar on a hybrid turbo.

Previous owner ran it on this and its been fine for me. But what's the max people are running and how long will it likely last before it goes bang if I leave it on 1.4bar?


I also have intercooler, dumpvalve and full exhaust

Yeah going to have to do something, even if its just glueing some other material on top? alcantara maybe as its not reflective?

Just wondering if anyone had some suggestions for me. The MR2 gets some SERIOUS reflected glare from the top of the dash - right in the middle of the drivers view - not ideal although if I get a booster seat I could pop my head above the windscreen. I got a feeling this might be all it was as after its second outting following the flooding it appears to of been running fine.

In typical sods-law fashion after a smokey-start she was fine all the way there. left it idling for 10 mins when we got there and no spluttering at all.


Very strange. Hopefully you guys can get to the bottom of it!

Regarding the 1.4 bar thing, I think the prev owner may of been exagerating (as I've only had the car for 2 weeks) but with the boost controller as its set up its doing about 1.2 max anyway so if it...

Just with work etc it might be tricky to get there until about 6ish maybe.

Does low compression = properly broken engine or is it resolvable?

They couldn't because the throttle stuff was in the way so they only cleared plugs 1 and 4 I think - could that be the problem?
