Yep. They ran stages both clockwise and anticlockwise.

Re: V8 Mk1 6 speed with power steering
Can't say I noticed any difference in tone but what our rally car sometimes does do when the exhaust is hot is belch 3 foot long flames on the overrun. On it's first event several folk said it spat bigger flames than the 6R4 that followed it. It's on 45 DCOEs and may run a wee bit rich. Our system i...

Yes they are. Read the earlier posts from aw11rally on this thread.

Re: ST165 calipers
When you mention Ferodo - do you mean the FC308 or DS2500's?? Halfords sell the cheaper FC308's I think and they should be pretty cheap.Cheers DS2500s. I've got them on the front of my MR2 road car and they're very good. The car used to belong to aw11rally and I think that they're ST165 2pots and m...

Re: ST165 calipers
Any recommendations for pads at all? I've used Mintex 1144 and Hawk Performance Black on my old race car - but that was half the weight of an MR2 Mintex should be good, or Ferodo. I agree with aw11rally - stay away from EBC pads. I recently had an E36 BMW 328i bought with Red Stuff pads on the fron...

Go on then, enlighten me. Which way round do they go?
(The manifold to downpipe ring gaskets on my road car are FUBAR and need changing. Not a problem I came across with the rally car as it has a 4 branch manifold.)

Re: quick rack
Cogboy and myself fitted a quaife rack on our rally car. It was relatively easy to fit, the worst bit was the 20yr old grease in the rack that looked like chocolate. Cogboy had to have a taste, as it happens it may look like chocolate but doesn't taste like it. Actually it looked more like Nutella,...

Re: How do deal with surface rust inside the car
Then overspray with whatever takes your fancy, colour doesn't realy matter under the carpet unless you have some kind of OCD (like Cogboy for example). The rally car doesn't have any carpets bro, and you managed to spray paint over everything in sight including the brand new fire extinguisher and t...

Re: Rally Car
Is fixing the driveshafts for the C64 a simple job to do, i.e. could a decent backstreet garage do it for me? A half decent engineering shop would be able to. We had a company called 'Timmick Precision Engineering' in Runcorn machine our driveshafts. The driveshafts are hardened and they had to use...

Re: Rally Car
I'm probably asking a silly question here as I'm not the expert you are but will the C64 fit with MR2 driveshafts and clutch etc? The MR2 clutch fits straight on as the splines on the input shaft on the gearbox are identical, but the Mk1 MR2 driveshafts don't fit the diff. We used the inner CVs tha...

Re: Rally Car
Ooo, ooo, ooh! The other reason we went for the Lotus C64 was because it came out of a mid-engined application, so all the selector mechanisms were in the correct places, we could use the Exige shifter, and the gear selector cables and the driveshafts were roughly the correct length. The Elise/Exige...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Gear box removal
Having just spent 12 hours with a mate and the owner of a Mk2 fitting a new clutch to it, I'd say £400 is a chuffing bargain, as the clutch change is a proper ball ache. Wasn't helped by the owner snapping the head off one of the bolts holding the clutch cover on to the flywheel, which I had to dril...

or just take your box of bolts to the local platers and slip them £20 cash and theyll stick them in with another job for you. £100 on a DIY kit, then all the effort of getting it working properly, and still the quality might not be as good. [Oddball] There you go again with those negative waves. [/...

Re: What gold paint for bolts.
You can buy DIY electroplating kits for under £100. Final colour of the plating depends on the passivating solution used. Can have silver, blued or yellow/gold finish. Search the internets or the bay of E.

Re: Rally Car
Please excuse my ignorance, but what is the gain from having the 6 speed gearbox? If anyone says "one more gear" then I will slap them. Just over £2k on the gearbox is an awful lot of money and was wondering why focus so much cash on just the gearbox. I'm the co-owner of this car. Having ...

Re: Rally Car
aw11rally and myself co-own a Mk1 MR2 tarmac rally car. Last year was our first season of competition and we were plagued with broken driver's side driveshafts and, as a knock on effect, bellhousings. We had major problems selecting gears when the car was being driven at 100%. It didn't want to go i...
