Re: south yorkshire meet
I'll be there and hopefully giving the V6 a run out :thumleft: Wouldn't 6.30pm be better to make the most of the light (to nosey at other cars) for this 'early season' meet? BTW - the bogieman's scared of me  As for weekend events - I'm booked on a trackday at Blyton on Sunday 15th April if an...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] camry v6 guide???? any about?
This is where you want to be for V6 swap info- http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/forum.php I put a 3vzfe in our track MR2 and won the £999 challenge in it last year- http://www.ppc-mag.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8292&sid=9861f44295e874f8a61b6f5afcf5c5a8 It's a great conversion and a tota...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] 200bhp ??
There is a company on Ebay that sells them http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-CALDINA-RAV-4-3SGE-2-0-BEAMS-ENGINE-/370566659099?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item56477e7c1b Seems reasonable, but I think the Caldina/Rav4 Beams is lower powered (187/178bhp according to wiki  ) so ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] 200bhp ??
I don't see why it should be too hard to get 200BHP out of a non Beams 3SGE. You'd want to start with a Rev3+ motor (as stated above) for a 170-180bhp starting point. Getting the right cams to allow the engine to breath up towards 8krpm would be vital and some of the more aggresive Turbo profiles ma...

Re: Newbie - wanting to build a trackday mr2 on a budget
Hello fellow budget trackday-ist :thumleft: For starters, what Rev's the car? If it's an early one, you'll be wanting later Rev2+ brakes (readilly available 2nd hand) with just some decent pads and fluid. Suspension wise, as you're on a budget then replace bushes as and when required ie. when they w...

Re: PPC £999 challenge
Went one better this year with a win in our V6 MR2
Just managed to pip a couple of Scoobys by taking a big chunk of time out of them on the handling course, and we were on road tyres this year

Re: PPC £999 Challenge 2011
But in gerneral with the valve in place and with it fully cut out, it gave more power all over the rev range but only a couple of hp at peak. Was good to see the topend of rev range pick up some. My car wouldn't idle with valve out but that could be adjusted for. More details to follow. Do you mean...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Camry engine conversion
I paid £280 for a 3vzfe from a scrappies with everything I needed to do the conversion, so they are out there. It was overheating but nothing a £50 ebay headset couldn't sort

New Blyton circuit.....
Spent all day yesterday blatting round Blyton in our V6 MR2 and can honestly say this place has been transformed!! It could best be described as a Rallycross circuit before, but now has 1.7 miles of smooth new tarmac laid out with a variety of high / low speed corners. Some constant radius and other...

Re: PPC £999 Challenge 2011
Mod update - Just set the timing to 15deg(ish) and moved the AFM 3 clicks leaner, and all seems well. Ended up having a bit of a duel with one of those Mitsubishi 3000GT twin turbo 300+BHP thingys and it easily held its own so can't be too bad can it?

Re: PPC £999 Challenge 2011
Cool, I'm deffo interested in the results so plse keep me informed.
I'm thinking completely removing it would be the best option for us with a track car, but we'll see what your dyno run says

Re: PPC £999 Challenge 2011
Just been doing a bit more research on the ACIS. It seems that it's open at high RPM and closed at low RPM (or is it the other way round?)to supposedly increase torque. As ours is a track car and we're not too fussed about how it performs below say 3Krpm, what about removing the valve completely? Ha...

Luke,
Have you done the ACIS valve mod, so it's open all the time? If so what's your opinion?
Cheers,
Nick

Re: PPC £999 Challenge 2011
Thanks for the info Luke
I'm doing a trackday Sunday so will leave things 'super safe' for now. After that though I'll up the timing to 15degBTDC, then I'll see if I can borrow Peters (SBITS) meter to check the fuelling once I've tweaked the AFM.
BTW - which rollers do you use in Wakey?

Re: PPC £999 Challenge 2011
Hi, I got rid of the Camry exhaust merge when I built the exhaust and somehow even manged to end up with equal length pipes, more luck than judgement but I'm pretty happy with the result (page 6 of my build shows it) It'd be nice to get rid of the cast manifolds but that isn't happening for the £999...
