Re: PPC £999 Challenge 2011
Seems a shame not too when you've already got most of the bits you need  The V6 I got was overheating as the head-gaskets were shot. So while the heads were off I did a bit of DIY porting, nothing spectacular but hopefully it's helped things along a bit. Apart from a DIY exhaust with Powerflow...

Re: PPC £999 Challenge 2011
No chance the camping will be as good as last year though! And I thought you'd built that V6 for the 9999 challenge, those coilovers are worth a grand! Just pulling your leg, I'm looking forward to seeing/hearing the V6 up the strip. Did you sort the temp problems after mallory? Regards The secret ...

PPC £999 Challenge 2011
Hi all, If anyone's interested in some cheap fun 'motorsport' then entry has just opened for this years 'PPC £999 challenge' at Santa Pod on Fri 16th Sept. You have to buy and modify (if reqd) a car for less than £1k and race it up the 1/4 mile and around a handling course against a bunch of like mi...

Re: Track Camber set-up on stock suspension
Ours is actually on coilovers but the fact you're going to be using it on track is why you should set it up with the extra negative camber, especially at the front to reduce understeer. You will need 'camber bolts' if you don't already have them but theses are readily available

This is what we use-
Front toe 0deg
Rear toe 0.3deg/3mm IN (per side)
Front camber -2.0deg
Rear camber -1.5deg
Front castor 3.0deg (if adjustable)

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 500BHP engine?
an evo engine would be a better start tbh :) But that'd mean 2 custom engine fits with twice the complications. If an EVO engine was to be used it'd be better to start with an EVO which would bump the cost up quite a bit. The easiest / cheapest way to 500BHP per engine would probably be a 2.3 SAAB ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 500BHP engine?
Yes guys it would be built with lightly tweaked engines to start with, so 'only' 600BHP say. It doesn't need 1000BHP from the off but the potential will be there for the future. It's a build that could be done in stages- 1. Tweak front engine, have some fun to make sure it's a good 'un. 2. Rem...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 500BHP engine?
From an engineering point of view it's much easier to fit a 2nd engine into a GT4 than it is to start from scratch and fit 2 engines to a car that wasn't meant to house either of them. I'm sure some company with enough time / skill / money could do it, but that ain't me. This idea (and that's all it...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 500BHP engine?
Sorry, I think I know what one is. Saw one in Morrisons car park this morning But why would I choose a non-descript shopping trolley over a proven 4wd rally car that already has one 3SGTE bolted in the front and hubs in the rear ready to accept the 2nd?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 500BHP engine?
Thanks for the input guys :thumleft: Looks like the bottom ends fairly simple providing I start with a decent engine. Just needs sprucing up with forged pistons, race bearings and ARP bolts. I can port the head myself which should help things along but could probably stick with stock cams, which'll ...
