Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rad fans permanently on

The fans stay on permanently when the aircon circuit is broken, but how should you loop the circuit for proper functioning fans if you keep the aircon removed? bridge the wires that go to the temp sensors in the aircon rad and the pipe on the right side of the frunk. If you still have the aircon EC...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] When does a mr2 stop being a sports car and become a hypercar or something

I believe historically hypercars have to have a top speed exceeding 200 mph.

For me a supercar costs £150,000+ and has more than 500 hp.

probably an over reaction. Mine sounds very burbly and i know its fine. Someone once commented "does it always sound like its misfiring?"

If you have no reference then you cant know something has changed.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Stef Derner Speedo Converter

i seem to recall when i did my tests i had a pretty flat battery. So if i was getting 9.5V with a low battery then i imagine 11V with a full battery is correct. I did do a test where i took a piece of wire and bridged some of the screws together, possibly top left and bottom right? That made the spe...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Cambelt difficulty for novice

There ya have it, i knew it was 60K miles but i also knew it was more than 3-4 years. still got some life in it. With the engine out you have to deal with things like getting the crank pulley off without a way of stopping the engine turning and all the standard fuss with lining up teeth and timing. ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Knock sensor issues driving me mad

Ok thanks how would I check Continuity with a multimeter as I don't know much about electrics, I only use it to check voltage supply to audio systems and stereos stuff like that Theres a setting which is normally symbolised by a diode image and radiating sound waves, like the wifi signal symbol. Th...

its possible. Best way to find out is for you to describe exactly how you go about bleeding the system in as much detail as possible. Then we can see if we can spot anything incorrect.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Cambelt difficulty for novice

why do you want to change the cambelt after 4 years and 5,000 miles? That cambelt has plenty of life left in it. If you have limited experience i dont recommend it at all. I did it with the engine out and that was challenging enough. I then did another one in situe and it was not a pleasant experien...

Re: Worst thing a garage has done to your car?

i did some work experience in a garage. The worst thing that happened whilst i was there was that we had a customers car dropped of at the garage to have an engine change done. Why did it need an engine change? The car had been taken to another garage for a basic service and after 20 miles the engin...

Re: front end lift....?

Dan, I agree with the top vent. I was suggesting snorkels for ease, but what I really would like to do would be create the GT style engine cover to do the following: 1. Replace the original cover and be watertight - so no probs with water ingress 2. Have a perspex 'window' so you can still see out ...

Re: Radiator fans won't turn off

you need to bridge that connector in the frunk but also the one that went to the temperature sensor in the air con radiator (part of the harness for the right fog light i think). Also if you have removed the air conditioning ECU (on top of the air con heat exchanger in the passenger footwell) then y...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo fluctuation

as people are alluding to, you have both the wastegate and the avcr fighting each other at 1bar. The fluctuating will be due to the reaction times of the two systems. So the wastegate opens just as the avcr is reacting, the avcr stops venting boost whilst the actuator closes and they just end up osc...
