its an engineering firm in wales not really aimed at cars so they do it on 'per job' basis rather than offer an alloy refurb service
its a more sensible price as they'll just see it as 4 bits of aluminum i guess

Immobiliser ummm.... immobilised
riteo, I disconnected the battery lastnight to fit my digital dash and now the darm immobiliser hasn't come back on, its one of those key fob type ones where you push the chip into a reader on the dash. the led on the unit doesn't come on either :S i've checked every fuse in the whole car and their ...

Re: Rare exhaust?? What have you got?
Love my legalisR, the exhaust note is a gorgeous deep rumble,
although it does have a nasty habit of setting the neighbours car alarm off when idling! they love it when i'm defrosting in the morning.

[Mk2] [Turbo] Building Custom dash - fuel light question
Hi all, i'm towards the end of my custom dash build its all installed into the housings now and all the wiring is thankfully done apart from the fuel low light, i can't find any documentation on how this works, the diagrams in the bgb say its simply a switch but i've drained my tank and jacked up th...

Re: How good are the plasma boost gauges
i'm sure they'd be fine but i'm going to use a standard needle type gauge for my boost controller setup then install the plasma in its place.
i'll get them plumbed in side by side and see how they compare
the boost is the only one i can foresee a problem with regarding the delay.

Re: How good are the plasma boost gauges
i just bought a set, haven't fitted yet but they look ace all lit up. tested water temp sensor in a mug of hot water and it was to temp in about 3 seconds and within 5 degrees of my digi thermometer, tested the boost gauge and its a little slow registering fast changes in pressure but all in all ver...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Speedo conundrum,
Update: i ended up putting the new electric speedo one in the original mechanical case (with a bit of modification) as the connectors were different. i have connected wires to the 4 screw terminals on the back of the electrical speedo then replaced all the rev 1 clocks and dials, does anyone know wh...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Dual port BOV's a happy medium?
if its the wrong bit for the rev of engine it wouldn't surprise me one bit, the turbo swap was a real bodge job, anyhoo, if itake the recirc pipe off and shine a torch inside i can see that the diaphram (of whatever it is) looks very tired, and it never acheives full boost until it makes that lovely...

Anyone in southwales with some spare wheels?
bit of a long shot.... i want to refurb my battered stock alloys but i need the car, and somehow after my fibreglassing escapade* of last weekend i won't be allowed to do them indoors so they'll need to be off the car for a week to allow drying in the cold temps of my shed does anyone have a spare s...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Exhaust Confirmation of make.
I have that exhaust and apart from the deep rumble setting car alarms off at low revs, its pretty quiet when cruising with a nice rasp on boost,
£750?!?! feck i paid less than that for the whole car happy days!
edit: my neighbours love it when i'm de-icing at 6.30am

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] strange sound on turbo spool up
well progress has been made, turns out the guy who did the tubby conversion got the o2 sensors plugged in the wrong way round, since swapping the wires and doing an engine hot reset on the ecu not only is the car performing like i always thought is should but the honk has completly gone don't quite ...
