Has anyone had any details sent though with booking forms ( disclaimers etc ) yet?
Normally they get sent through before the event, don't know if it is just me missing out.
Easy to pull the relay and bench test it. Check to see if you have 12v on both sets of pins on the relay. If you have +12Ve between 86 + 85 with the switch pressed you know the switch + dash wiring is OK. You should have +12Ve out of pin 30 with the ignition on, if not check the wiring to the relay....
Maybe I misunderstand what you've written but all the movement should be in the rose joint - the thread should be locked up tight? Was wondering the same thing. Shouldn't have to take the joint off to grease it up, most I have seen have a grease nipple. Some rod ends have a nylon insert which is no...
If you need some new rose joints they can be easily sourced and replaced.
Better you keep them regularly lubed up.
Mcgill Motorsport is a good source.
Noise sounds like rubber on metal to me.
Just had a quick look over some of the signals available to the ECU; (If I'm reading the pin out correctly.) Speed pulse feed from the dash should be a simple frequency adjusted square wave, although without hooking up an oscilloscope that is a guess. RPM should be easy to work out, looks like the E...
If the app supports the ISO 15765 standard it would be easy enough to interface a Motec unit. There is no reason why a standard MK1 ECU couldn't be made to talk to the app either. It would be easy enough to take the data being fed via the standard ECU and convert it into a OBD2 compatible protocol. ...
Easy to figure out what is causing the drain, sometimes harder to figure out how to fix it. Put a multimeter in line with the battery and measure DC amperes. A high reading of anything over 0.1amp needs to be looked at. Start pulling fuses until the reading drops off. Once you have worked out what c...
Gutted for the owner, hopefully something can be salvaged.
Peter if you do find the cause would you be kind enough to post it up so we can check over our cars?
Sounds more like a dead short rather than a flat battery, but the sudden increase in current cause by connecting the battery can blow old fuses quite easily. If you have a multimeter check the current draw on the battery and the standing voltage. It is hopefully something simple like a loose battery...
I 'cheated' on mine. 22mm deep disk socket + 24' breaker bar. Jack the car up as high as I could at the front. Put the socket and bar onto the nut and carefully lowered the car down pushing up on the breaker bar. May not be the safest way to do it but it did work for me. Probably just easier to buzz...
