Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] THE pump whining noise

When I fitted my stereo I had real bad interfearance. Alternator was one and Power steering pump was the other. Here is what I did to sort it out it took me ages trying many different things but these are the things that worked; I mounted my amp on teh firewall behind the drivers seat. originally I ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo not boosting - Greddy Profec problem.

It was a PP9 I used mate. Did wonder about the current - but got distracted by the voltage. So it could be the solenoid being sticky or it could be the unit not pushing out enough current. Guess the only way to check would be to get a replacement solenoid or the head unit and see if one works with o...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo not boosting - Greddy Profec problem.

I have done some testing of my Greddy unit and here are the results. By connecting a bike pump up to "simulate" a turbo I get the following; When pumping I cannot hear any noise from the solenoid unit. Disconnecting the solenoid unit and putting a volt meter across the lead from the head u...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo not boosting - Greddy Profec problem.

Ah Gotcha - teach me not to read properly :-) I think that you could just leave it in the engine bay, the only thing is that depending where its left it may read to hot or to cold, and this may make the ECU "do" things to compensate. Probably not he best person to advise on it considering ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo not boosting - Greddy Profec problem.

Quick update Have checked all the silicon links and they all seem well. Think the problem may be with my Greddy unit. Connected the pressure sensor to a hand pump and pumped away untill it got to its warning level. Couldn't hear the solenoid moving at all - couple of questions for all Greddy owners;...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo not boosting - Greddy Profec problem.

My ECU was giving an error code 24 until I plugged it into the sensor mate.
Im not sure if this error would cause the engine to go into safe mode or not mate, but I just plugged it in reset the ECU and all was well with the ECU again.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo not boosting - Greddy Profec problem.

Cheers for that mate - found where the connector was meant to go, plugged it in, reset the ECU and it cleared the error. Now get a continuous flashing light. However, Im still only getting 0.59 bar out of my turbo. Looking around the forums everything is pointing to the VSV, but Im sure I disconnect...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo not boosting - Greddy Profec problem.

Reset the ECU but that made no difference. Used a paperclip to check for error codes and it looks like I have got an error 24, Intake Air Temp. Sensor Open or short in intake air temp. sensor signal (THA).

Can anybody tell me what this means.

Thanks

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo not boosting - Greddy Profec problem.

That sounds about right as i have a small hole in my drivers a pillar trim.
Now that it may be sorted would i still need to get the ECU codes cheched?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo not boosting - Greddy Profec problem.

Thanks; Turns out my fuel pressure regulator is getting its boost reference from - nowhere. Found the other half of that cut tube! http://i776.photobucket.com/albums/yy44/andyg1978/Profec/DSC03178.jpg Replaced all the tubing so there is a link going from the intake manifold to the fpr and put a t-ba...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo not boosting - Greddy Profec problem.

To be honest I have no idea where my fuel pressure regulator get its boost pressure reference from. Im not even sure if it is getting a reference? Where abouts is the fpr? Im guessing is close to the fuel relay pump? http://i776.photobucket.com/albums/yy44/andyg1978/Profec/DSC03170.jpg http://i776.p...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo not boosting - Greddy Profec problem.

Hi I have recently fitted a Profec B to my tubby but cannot get it to boost past about 0.6 bar. I have installed it correctly (I think anyway) including disconecting the VSV as seen here; http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=52413&highlight=vsv My Turbo seems to be peaking at about 0.6 B...

Greddy Profec B Spec II Question

Hi I have got my hands on a Profec B Spec II boost controller. Unfortunately the valve unit harness (the 2.5 meter cable that joins the control unit to the solenoid) was left in the car it came from and crushed. I manged to find a replacement from JDM Performance, but having waited 3 weeks, they hav...

I have managed to sort the power problem I had with the head unit - turned out to be a grounding problem. All is working fine now - except.......... I now get a whine coming from the speakers when a certain motor is running in the frunk. This motor runs whenever the engine is on and also runs for ab...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Help, new head unit not getting power :-(

Hi I have just spent the day trying to fit a new stereo. Mr MR2 came with a non standard 2 DIN Eclipse unit with cd and minidisc. The install of this did not the Toyota 14PIN connector, it took the ACC and put it into its own wiring loom. The stock amplifier was bypassed but left powered. I cannot s...
