Engine Does Not Tick Over When Hot

Engine starts from cold & runs well, accelerates strongly, etc

BUT

When it reaches full running temperature it stalls at tickover revs

Any ideas please ?

I had a similar problem

My old tester is one with a rubber cone

I now have a new tester which screws into the sparkplug hole

Much better :thumleft:

Re: Dizzy Talk

I used the ring end of an 8mm open-ended & ring spanner to remove the two little setscrews that hold the cap Trunks

Not too difficult considering the relative lack of space around the dizzy on a Mk1 :)

The BGB says " Use a good brand of ethylene-glycol base coolant mixed according to the manufacturer's directions" Yes The Comma X-stream coolant, which Halfords recommend for the Mk1 isn't called Ethylene Glycol It's called Glysantin (a BASF trade name) May be just another name for the sa...

Coolant

Toyota advertise several different coloured coolants

Red, Pink, Green and Blue (possibly others)

Blue is for the GT86 it seems

Have no information about differences in the other coloured fluids

Or which is most suitable for the 4A-GE :-k

Any ideas :?:

Without wishing to hi jack elbons thread, does anyone know why this failure of the water jacket - no 4 cylinder happens. Is it lack of inhibitors/depletion. Some sort of cavitation/erosion? What can be done to prevent it. Type of head headgasket? sealant or not? It would be good to know. Jim No pro...
