Unless one has access to a small (short) torque wrench, capable of being set down as far as 20 Nm, it will be impossible to torque the setbolts down with the engine installed
I prefer to torque them & I can & have done it
Just wondered if there is an easier way which I don't know about

Dizzy Talk
How do members get on with torqueing the dizzy down on Mk1b please ? BGB quotes 20 Nm (or equivalent) I find it extremely awkward to get a small torque wrench into position to tighten the setbolt nearest the side of the engine bay (3/8ths wrench about a foot long) Have had to remove the cap to do th...

Re: For those with Koni Adjustables - what setting do you use?
I would set em to full hard .... see what that's like
Then to full soft .... ditto
Then progressively adjust to intermediate settings

Re: Gearbox Removal
I have changed quite a few gearboxes single handed and I find it easier to have the box suspended from a crane or winch rather than using jacks. The ability to swing the box toward the engine when it is suspended us useful Good system IF one has engine crane or block & tackle on hand :thumleft:...

Re: Gearbox removal
Getting it out is the easy bit, getting it back in is the ball ache if you don't have lifting gear (hoist or 2 buddies and a pole + rope). Thermostat housing just unbolts from the top of the gearbox and can be left hanging about, so need to drain the coolant. I'd drain the gearbox oil, although not...

Re: First MR2 I've seen without a sunroof
Could be a good basis for a track car project :-k Less weighty than other models Not wishing to be pedantic, but the weight saving over a sunroof model is negligible in the scheme of things. The MK1 is a comparatively heavy car to start with. I guess being LHD reduces it's value too. To put it into...

Re: Lost Clutch Hydraulics
A new cyl should sort it OK James
Rather an expensive method though
I would strip & clean the cyl internally
Then fit a set of new seals

Magnex no longer exists as an independent firm
They were taken over by Mongoose, who now sell both
I have a Magnex. Am very happy with it
