Re: Mk 1 bits for sale (picture heavy)

I don't weld either. The pass seat is currently bolted. Jimi recommend welding just in case the bolts shear.

I am in Higham, about 20 min from Bedford.

Re: Mk 1 bits for sale (picture heavy)

Not much point really, I'd then be left with a passenger seat that noone wants. The pics show all the blemishes and scuffs on the drivers seat, the only thing left to take is a pic of the back, but it's just a plain black fabric cover.

Re: Mk 1 bits for sale (picture heavy)

Hi. Sorry for the late reply. Been on holiday for a couple of weeks. Yes. Not entirely sure how much without taking out and weighing it. Would need to find a suitable way of wrapping it as I don't think I will find a box big enough and it won't fold up I don't think. I think it would be at least a t...

Mk 1 bits for sale (picture heavy)

Hi, I am stripping my Mk 1 down for a track car so have various bits that I don't need as I will be replacing them, but obviously need to sell some bits to pay for new bits. I have a pair of Mk3 seats, I got round to fitting the passenger seat, so that already has the Mk1 brackets on and rails cut d...

Re: Matte paint

I bought Greg's Matt Black Mk1, but only because it had the supercharged engine. I wasn't a fan of the colour, but it has grown on me over the last 2 years. I think I will stick with it. Saw a Bentley Conti coupe kit for a Supra at kit car show and they didn't have time to paint so threw on matt whi...

Re: How to destroy Mk1s

Country wise was all about Jersey this week. The show was more about potatoes and cows. Surprised they even have traffic over there. Did look like a lovely island to holiday in though. Mike take the push bikes over there some time. Will have to look up the rally now, see if I can tie a holiday in wi...

Re: suspension swap - kyb or koni ??

Having read several threads about shocks for Mk1, a lot of people seem to like Koni dampers with Eibach springs. I had Eibach lowering springs on my old Passat TDI with std shocks and it was great round roundabouts. So what are the options for doing that set up in terms of cost. If one were to get a...

Re: Woodsport longer 5th gear

Absolutely don't trust the Toyota dealers. The ones I used said that they wouldn't take the parts back if I fitted them and found they were wrong and couldn't guaranttee that they were the right ones. I just went in with some part numbers and ordered the bits. I then found that the number of teeth w...

Re: After Market Steering Wheel Horn Help.

I use Momo Boss and wheel and extension adapter and all works fine. I had lots of problems with the momo boss not working properly initially because it kept going too far down the steering column and crushing the purple plastic indicator ring with the studs that go into the back of the boss. The onl...

Re: Brake options

And here is the static bias and pedal feel. Pedal travel is ratio of master cylinder to pad travel, eg m/c stroke reqd to move all pads 1mm. More is worse. Pedal pressure is the ratio of force on the master cylinder piston to braking force (retardation). This ignores the effect of the brake booster...

Re: Brake options

Wow, that is a lot of info on this thread and opinion does seem to be divided. I thought I was reasonably smart, but I would need to go through all the stats several times to get my head around it all. Now I am preparing my car for track, all I have to go on from personal experience is that my last ...

Re: Woodsport longer 5th gear

Hi Ufer. Thanks for the PM. I didn't get an email notification that this thread had been replied to. I just re-read what mpg I was getting last year. I stopped checking my mpg actually, but thought the last time I checked it it was about 32mpg. But I do shorter journeys now. About 12 miles each way ...

Re: Trackday - Best beginners track?

I'm a fan of Bedford. It's only 20 min from me. Silverstone is about 40. I've done the corporate day at Bedford which is one of the best days to be had if you can get a company to stump up the grand for it. Did all 4 tracks in different cars. The single seater I was lucky enough to be in the group t...

Mk1 V6 in a couple of years or so ? Peter Yes. The Mk1 was my daily driver till it failed the MOT this month. Now the Camry is my daily driver. So to get the conversion done, I need to buy another daily driver. Now I could get another £1k car, but then have to find the money for the conversion whic...

6 into 2 into 1

V6 into 2 (Mr2), 2 cars into 1 (Mk1)

New addition to the Toyota family. 1MZ Camry (old manry) gonna be my daily driver for a couple of years.

Then both cars will go to Woodsport. So long as everything goes to plan.

Track Day preparation Essentials

Please can all you Mk1 track day and race enthusiasts give me a top pick / essential upgrade list before tracking your car. I have done a track day before in my std E39 M5 but obviously it was too heavy so didn't handle. I've also done a few red letter / virgin days and have also been fortunate enou...
