Re: Tyre size help please guys

My old wheels, which incidentally will be up for sale very soon, were 8.5 f with 225/35/18, and 9.5 r with 245/35/18.

Thank you bud, but would you not be concerned about the lesser width, and smaller footprint ?

I have to say, the current setup feels superb - very comfy, and sharp handling. I just didn't know if wider tyres would be the preferred choice ?

Tyre size help please guys

Right, so i've just put a set of 17's on my car, 7j front and 8j rear. Currently running 205/40 f and 225/45 r. The tyres will need replacing soonish, and I wondered if anyone had any advice/info on the best options ? I can either replace the tyres for the same sizes, or I was thinking perhaps 235/4...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Low oil pressure at idle

Personally I'd be getting a little concerned with only 8psi at idle when warm, especially on a refreshed engine. The stock low pressure switch, switches at 7psi iirc. Have you noticed the pressure getting lower over time? Ive had the gauge fitted for ages, but only fitted the sender a week or so ag...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Low oil pressure at idle

The problem is, whilst cruising, my oil temps don't climb above the 70 degree range.

This must be due to the cold air acting on the sump, and it may well be a completely different story in the summer - if we ever get one

The only time my oil gets anywhere near 100, is when idling in traffic.

Re: Front imports square plates

What intake, the engine is in the back remember

If you mean the radiator, I wouldn't worry about the plate being like that. However, you could fit a 12x6 on the front, but the rear needs to be 13x6.5 to properly fill the recess in the bumper.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Low oil pressure at idle

Mines much the same, whilst driving it normally hovers around 70-80 degrees centigrade, but when sitting idling, it often climbs to around 100.

Thats measuring from the sump, via a sump plug sender jobbie.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Low oil pressure at idle

Thanks Pete, was hoping you'd drop in :thumleft: That's set my mind at rest a bit, I did read up that typically 10 psi per 1000 rpm is considered within tolerance, so that rings true with what you've said :) I'm going to move the sender, as it currently sits by the turbo - and I've read that heat an...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Low oil pressure at idle

Yep mine is also being measured from the cylinder head, via a small braided line, with a twin adaptor on the end. The stock pressure switch, and gauge sender are in the same adaptor. My engine is only two years old, and was rebuilt throughout with forged rods and pistons. I'm getting good pressure w...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Low oil pressure at idle

Hi guys, what would cause low oil pressure at idle, when at full operating temp? Also, what would be deemed as low pressure - can you post what you typically see, if you have a gauge installed? Oil in my car Is 10w 40 semi, castrol gtx magnatec. Engine was rebuilt 2 years ago, and a brand new oil pu...

Re: Options for restoring worn seats.

I have a pair of half leather seats here, and the drivers seat is in lovely condition - especially the top half, where the bolsters normally wear through. I'm actually going to be stripping these seats down, or selling them whole, so if you're interested, you could use my covers and your current sea...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] hks bov fitting advice please

The lower pipe you've blocked, goes to the Air con idle up valve. The small pipe coming off the bov, needs to be tee'd into a vacuum line on your engine, via a piece of 3mm hose, and a 't' piece. The fuel rail vacuum line is a good choice. Or you can 't' into the map sensor hose, but it'll look mess...

Yep, courtesy lights like that were definitely a rare factory option, however, i've never seen a set up close to be able to confirm what they actually look like

Adam3442 has them on his rev3 iirc

Rob, are you on about the clear moisture filters you get with some aftermarket boost gauges and boost controllers?

A clear jobby, that looks like a spinning top - normally have a bit of foam or wadding inside.

Re: oem bov filter looking thing that seems to be a valve

What you're describing is the vtv, or vacuum transmitting valve. It's like a one way valve, but it let's full pressure one way, and limited pressure the other way. Without it, your stock bov won't function properly. Available from Toyota, I think the last one I bought was about £35. Also note that o...
