Re: Possible answer to the old debate? IC VS CC
I hope thats a plot from the summer!! 80 degrees inlet temps in December!@# :) LOL! Well spotted. That was in April some time. Ambient temps of around 25C, I think, and the car was on boost for some time (that's only a small portion of the whole log, but demostrates the spool up quite well, and the...

Re: Possible answer to the old debate? IC VS CC
I'll see if I can find out a little more about the PE1919T. I must admit that I like the fact that it's a direct replacement, not to mention how cheap I can get it also! How much can you get it for? New? It *may* be a good turbo, but without knowing more about it... You may consider a regular CT26 ...

Re: Possible answer to the old debate? IC VS CC
Seeing as though you two seem to know so much about turbo's etc. You can help my decide which new one I should be picking for my own car...please  Sure mate, no worries! :) I've read that page, and I knew basic details of the turbo before, but whether it's the right choice depends what you're...

Re: Possible answer to the old debate? IC VS CC
I'll help you out! cheeky git  I am actually aware of the physics behind it thank you, a degree in engineering does come in useful sometimes especially the flow analysis ;) Sorry mate, wasn't meant to be condescending - was just trying to help out. I too am an engineer, and have been doing th...

Re: Possible answer to the old debate? IC VS CC
agreed yes a bigger compressor will give more airflow at the same boost. However 1.2 bar boost in the manifold is going to contain the same volume of air independant of the actual turbo used to generate it. as you say with a bigger compressor the air temp will be lower for a given pressure thus inc...

Re: Possible answer to the old debate? IC VS CC
er depends on where you measure this ;) 1.2 bar in the manifold is gonna be 1.2 bar no matter what turbo is boosting ergo the same amount of airflow. Took a while for me to be lead to that conclusion but when you think about it, its right. Yes a bigger turbo will provide cooler air so there will be...

Re: big power rev2
As for a 330d although it has more torque than an e46 m3 i really can't see it out shifting one once they are both up and running - you are looking at nearly 150bhp down with only 20lb/ft more torque. They are really impressive on motorways for pulling out speed in higher gears - but i still would ...

Re: Possible answer to the old debate? IC VS CC
I can't believe that in all the above text, you picked up on that!  Mikejc  LOL! It's just that I'm fussy about dyno readings because I've been on a lot of different dynos and also used to work at a tuning place that ran the dyno brilliantly, IMHO. I also have made a dyno plot tool...

Then you'll understand the difference between "at the wheels" and "at the hubs", right?

Re: Possible answer to the old debate? IC VS CC
Mike, Pace themselves told Neil that the CC wasn't good for more than 350bhp (they said it was never designed for more).
Anyway, what does Patrick @ Rogue say? After all, he's selling these kits?
CC wise, don't worry, shortly there'll be another CC option!

Re: Possible answer to the old debate? IC VS CC
I think the air/water was used on the celica for homolagation reasons and because it is less susceptible to damage than an air/air IC. It was used because they couldn't guarantee enough airflow to cool an A-A, partly down to sometimes having to operate mostly at low speeds and partly because the IC...

I'm gutted I missed this! Wasn't going to run the car, but was going to come and hitch rides with some people.
So was Neil spanking everyone on track then?

Re: Adjusting timing after removing unichip
ISTR that when they fit the Unichip, they advance the timing wildly - and then force the ECU to retard the timing by adjusting the signals its sees - the overall result is the timing is advanced a little where possible to increase power output - running Super Unleaded also helps if the car normally...
