Re: Problems after cambelt change

Although that is for a rev 1 is the method of setting the timing on a rev 3 the same? I think I'll print out a copy and show it to the Mechanic to make 100% sure it's correct. I supplied the parts and bought them from tcb, though I didn't check to make sure it was the right belt, but I definitely or...

Re: Problems after cambelt change

Ok, picked the car up from the garage again, the mechanic said he had double checked the timing and that it was definitely correct and that he could not find a problem anywhere, i believe him as he does know his stuff and is very honest. I have taken the car back as the amount of misfire tells me it...

Re: Problems after cambelt change

Thanks for the advice guys. How would you tell whether it is mechanical or ignition timing that is incorrect.

Re: Problems after cambelt change

Ok, will have them check, The car did seem to run badly also. Is this the right thing I need to look at - http://mr2.noegruts.com/ignition/timing.htm

Can any damage occur from driving with incorrect timing?

Re: Problems after cambelt change

I don't possess a timing light so that will have to wait until it goes back to the garage. Would wrong timing cause this problem?

Problems after cambelt change

Hello chaps, Just returned from having cambelt, hydraulic tensioner, idlers, alt/ac belts and water pump changed and my car isn't healthy at all! The problem is that when I put my foot down, I can hear the turbo spooling and showing plenty of boost on the gauge but the car doesn't go any faster. And...

Re: Quick cambelt question

That was rather silly of me, revision 3 turbo. I'm pretty sure i've ordered all the right parts, the chap from tcb was very helpful.

Hello all,

Thought i'd give you all a headsup, there is 20% off all mobil 5 litre containers at halfords. So the popular 15w/50 is only £38.39, quite a bargain i thought.

How would you recommend heating them? I was thinking touching the screws with a soldering iron.

Re: Mk2 - wind noise from wing mirror / tweeter

Sorry for the Necro, but does anyone know the part numbers for the door mirror mounts? This wind noise is getting right on my boobs. Passenger side: 67514-17020 Driver side: 67513-17020 I noticed a big difference when I replaced my drivers side mount. I'm using the Velcro fix on the passenger side ...

Re: Mk2 - wind noise from wing mirror / tweeter

JeffD suggested that the easiest way of fixing this is to replace the door mirror mount. They're not expensive (less than £30) from Toyota. I have since done this, and it fixed my instance of wind noise... Sorry for the Necro, but does anyone know the part numbers for the door mirror mounts? This w...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Wind noise from wing mirror/tweeter

Hello, driving above about 30mph I get a rustling sound from the wing mirror/tweeter area, so it looks like i have the same air leak as described here -http://www.btinternet.com/~netsurf/mr2t/mr2Tprobsandcures.html#wind My question is - does anyone know where I can get the new screws that attach the...

Ok, thanks for your reply, the tensioner will get changed then. Can anyone tell me about the pumps and hose from hell?

Bits to replace whilst doing cambelt

Hello chaps, My rev 3 turbo is due a cambelt change, so at the same time I was wondering what else would be prudent to change without spending huge amounts of money. Obviously the cambelt and idler bearings, alternator and air con belts, the water pump was changed 5 years ago will that need changing...

The air con belt is also driven by the engine pulley wheel but is different to the alternator belt.

Can't recommend a garage but I'm sure someone will.

Ok, thought it was strange as i couldn't find an aircon belt on any parts websites. Can you link one please?
