Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Power steering issues
Yes that's the connector for the horn, and also the optional airbag I think. The metal ring in photo 2 that's supposed to pass through the sensor as seen in photo 3 is attached to the horn connector, which then slots through a hole in your steering wheel. So when you turn your wheel it spins the rin...

And when i started the e...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Power steering issues
Not managed to have a proper look at this yet bud, am going to try and have a look tomorrow. If it is the pick up sensor as Mike suggested then I won't be able to get anything welded on, will have to come up with something else. If it didn't get dark so bloody early I'd have had a look tonight. Will...

Re: Running a MR2 in the winter
I've driven my car (admittedly a Rev3) every day for the last 4 years without any real problem. The only minor issue was with the doors sticking shut during very cold weather as the glass *sticks* to the seals. I've had this problem this week, will a bit of Vaseline stop this happening? And to the ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Power steering issues
If you turn on the ignition, but not turn it over, can you hear a whinning/laboured noise from the frunk? Just done this and I can't hear anything from the frunk. Mike N thanks for your advice, I do have an aftermarket steering wheel and I will check this at the weekend. However, sometimes when I d...

I'll check tonight, if I do hear this is it the sign of the pump on it's way out?

[Mk2] [Turbo] Power steering issues
Hello chaps, I have an issue with my steering. Most of the time when I start the car and maneuver out of my parking space the steering is very heavy and feels like the power steering isn't working at all, though this disappears as soon as I drive faster and move off. Sometimes this doesn't happen at...

Re: opinions of different makes of tyres
Your Choice in 15 inch tyres is extremely limited, the performance tyres in this range consist of Toyo t1-r and falken ze912, and I think the toyos are supposed to be better. There are also the original mr2 tyre, the Yokohama a022, but these are 20 years old now and are no as capable as modern tyres...

Re: Problems after cambelt change
Forgot to update this, my car is now fixed, Thanks to James and his guys at Toyotagt. It seems that the timing was incorrect and that the pulley on the water pump was at a very slight angle which was causing the belt to slip and rub against the metal casing causing it to fray. It's running perfectly...

Do you mean the shock dust cover? If so then you can get them from tcbparts - http://tcbparts.co.uk/suspension.htm

Re: missing piece
As said above you're best off leaving it unplugged, when it rains heavily water collects in there and has nowhere to go.

How could the valves be hitting the pistons? I thought that it's a non-interference engine?

Re: Problems after cambelt change
An update - I haven't had time to swap leads or plugs yet, though my attention has been drawn to something else that could be a cause of the problem. The rattling sound that i noticed initially, it's not there at idle, but appears at about 2k revs and sounds like a marble being shaken in a tin, it's...

Re: Problems after cambelt change
To check the cam timing all we did was turn the crank to top dead center and then checked the cams to see if the marks on the spokes matched up with the timing marks on the backplate. Does that sound like the correct process?

Re: Problems after cambelt change
Have checked the cam timing and it's correct, the ignition timing however was out so we reset that to 10 degrees btdc. But the car was still misfiring, so we swapped the lambda out for a new one and the misfire is still there. So all I can do now is eliminate ignition components one by one, I have p...

Ok, I'm going to check the timing myself, thanks for the offer ashman, if I can't get it sorted then I may take you up on that.
Thanks.
Thanks.
