Re: Fibreglass flared wings

How much wider than stock? I still need to replace one of my wings from when it was written off. Was wondering if it looks ok with standard bodywork. These look very much like the front wings from the Haslbeck kit that Woodsport rescued a few years back. If this is so then some wider rear wings wou...

Re: 4AGE distributor less ignition

The megajolt only runs the ignition side using Ford or similar coil packs. NODIZ I think does have the capacity to run fueling and ignition again through a Ford coil pack, they also do all the sensors needed as well. If you are using an OMEX ecu then this should run both and all you would need is th...

Re: 6spd Mk1 Turbo in the Toyota Sprint Series

Interesting that two members with competition cars you and AW11rally have reverted to 13" wheels to compensate for the ratios of the 6 speed gearbox.

What brakes are you using to fit inside these wheels?

Re: 4AGE distributor less ignition

If you only want to run the ignition side and not any fueling ie if you want to run carbs theneither a NODIZ unit with ford coilpacks would work https://motorsport-electronics.co.uk/electronic-ignition-megajolt-nodiz-pro.html or you could try Triggerwheels who do a bundled kit for the 4age http://tr...

Re: BC Racing Coilovers Type BR

Don't know whether this is of interest but Matrix garage do bc coilover kits but of more interest they are also developing a custom kit particularly for the AW11 matched stroke front to back and in long or short configuration. Go to http://www.matrixgarage.com/store/suspension and send an enquiry ab...

Re: Upgraded Engine Parts

There used to be a couple of Irish guys who built really well sorted corolla and starlet rally cars can't think of their names just now but the cars would give a full house mk2 escort a run for the money on tarmac

Re: Upgraded Engine Parts

If you look further afield there are several tuning companies that cater for the 4age. It's a shame more people don't consider N/A engines worth doing these days, I guess that's because a turbo engine is easier to upgrade. Try http://www.mrpltd.co.nz/product/290/7age-stroker-kit-1-9l.html they do a ...

Re: 6 speed LSD Mk1 gearbox build

Because aw11rally has found that the standard 6 speed gear set is not ideal for a competition car used on twisty rally stages hence the custom final drive. Kaiowas wants to use a 6 speed box in a sprint car and as sprints take place on short twisty tracks he may encounter the the same problem. There...

Re: 6 speed LSD Mk1 gearbox build

Hi Paul, I'm considering having a go at some of this over the winter. I'm having the kind of traction issues that will definitely be helped by a Torsen LSD and the lower gearing of the 6 speed conversion will be an added bonus. Mine won't be as posh as yours, I'll probably avoid rebuilding the 6 sp...

Re: Rally Car

I thought the reason you went for a 6 speed box was because the standard AW11 driveshafts were too short and pulled out of the diff housing.

If you revert to a 5 speed will you be able to use the equal length shafts with a supported shaft?

Have you made any progress in getting the gearbox parts made yet?

Elite seem to be a top notch company, don't they build all the sequentian gearboxes that the top Mk2 Escort drivers use?

Re: Quick update.

Ideally (and if the CWP fit in the case) we'd be after a 5.6 final drive ratio. Which on 23in dia tyres would give us the following gearing:- 1st - 30 2nd - 46 3rd - 64 4th - 81 5th - 103 6th - 115mph at 7750rpm. . Interesting solution does this mean with the new CWP you will not have to resort to ...

A polycarbonate rear window like this one would be OK but you would probably want to cut some vents into it like the RS200 or the Lancia 037

These kits are expensive but you get nearly all the parts to build a completely new short motor. The cost of these parts OEM from Toyota would be equal or possibly more.

That is a shame it would have finished the car off perfectly with carbon panels at the back as well as the front.

This car is probably the best example of a mk1 mr2 and shows what should have been done by the factory. Every detail is perfect.

Re: turbo or supercharger

There are some realy impressive options for tuning the 4age from the likes of Brian Crower and Manon Racing who do stroker kits to increase the capacity to over 1900 cc (Manon racing). One of these with ITBs and an uprated c64 gearbox would be great in a tarmac rally or sprint car
