Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Ultra Power Earth System

I have an ebay earthing kit. seems decent quality though. I think I was spurred onto it by the fact that my OEM batt clamp was shagged, I also figured it would help my P/S whine through after-market stereo (it didnt, at least not much!) I did 'feel' an improvement - just weird little things ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Electrics are dead!

someone more knowledgeable will be along but I'd be considering the battery and the alternator. Although as the car is running and as the problem is so specific to certain items, it might be one 'circuit' that's causing the issue, if the fuses are OK you might have a bad earth somewhere?? just guess...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Measuring ride height

A few questions: What is the OEM Front and Rear ride heights for an N/A? Should the difference in F/R ride height (say 20mm) remain the same if its dropped? Any tips on where to measure from? - Floor to arch centre? Mine has been dropped by the garage but I wasn't confident that the ride-heights on...

Re: hello... this is all going to be very new for me

a small point re wheel choice is that you should try to consider the range/cost of rubber available for any given wheel. for example semi-slick rubber for 16's might be more readily available and cheaper than rubber for 15s as mentioned a break health check is worthwhile I was also told NOT to put m...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Wilhelm Race Works Suspension Geometry Adjustment Kit Group Buy

The spherical tie rod bearing in the rear knuckle is removed and a solid steel slug pressed into it's place. The bracket then clamps on over that, and the new rear tie rod uses rod ends on both ends. Thanks, sorry for being simple but does this means the bearing that comes with the kit will have to...

Re: Which track days?

slight hi-jack but hopefully relevant to the OP in a round about way!! - is anyone aware of a bring-your-own 'car-control' event/day I'm kind of thinking gymkhana/ drifting/ skid-pan type stuff etc...? www.carlimits.com Highly recommended. Thanks for that, its quite a way from me but good to know t...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Tie rods & un-nerving handling

I'll second the suggestion that it's the tyres. Your description sounds like what I experienced with brand new 225/50/15 T1Rs. After about 1000 miles I think they've improved but it still sometimes feels like the back end is squirming around on certain road surfaces. thanks -sounds like I do need t...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Wilhelm Race Works Suspension Geometry Adjustment Kit Group Buy

So worth reiterating here that this wont fit under standard 15' wheels then! I have the kit fitted with 16" wheels. Just had to trim off the end of the ball joint stud Which 16's do you have Bob? happen to have any pics of the clearance? I also have the rev1 caster adjustable set up at the fron...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Tie rods & un-nerving handling

toyo's are well known for being twitchy and lacking feel when new there awful till run in and with the road conditions as they are at the minute i wouldn't be surprised if that's your problem. afaik the rev1 tie rod thing was to do with the way they attach to the subframe, earlier cars the tie rods...

[Mk2] [NA] Tie rods & un-nerving handling

Hello all, I'm trying to to do a little bit of handling diagnosis - which I fully appreciate is virtually impossible over the net.... but hey, I might get lucky!! I have BC racing coil overs & fully polybushed suspension with other refreshed bits e.g. ball-joints. I had it aligned using the Dino...
