Re: Rear tie rod bush/bearing uprade

Lol

A rose joint is a spherical bearing

A solid metal joint is a bearing, looks like the sbits ones just have protective boots on the end to keep the crap out of the bearings :)

Re: Going sideways on a small roundabout...

I think the biggest reason people get into tank slappers in mr2s is they lift off. They then regain grip when they still have lots of lock on and the car fires the other way. as in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfrDRul7S38 However I would still agree with both Lauren and Luke. If you are too slow t...

Re: Peg-type locking wheel nut removal

I had these and they were and absolute ass to get off.

Went to a guy on ebay who welded a big rod to them and undid them in about 15 minutes.

He also runs a lorry recovering business and guarantees to remove them, even had a cup of tea waiting for me :D

Did yours make a loud bang / clunk noise on every rotation?

Sounds like a replacement gearbox will be easier than anything else.

Re: Help - Droplinks

Nope, had it in the air today for a good luck underneath. Also had a friend look over it who agreed with me. The driveshaft I have just fitted is shagged. Both wheel bearings are shot, drivers side especially so Some sort of bearing in the diff has gone meaning that the driveshaft spins off centre a...

Also jap cars tend to be built to modify... I don't mean as in its irresistible to tweak them but that there is a whole load of extra capacity engineered in but unused :)

Car was fine when I put it together but about a week later it makes a good awful racket when driving along. I cant find anything loose but these links dont look right t...

A better distribution of the braking force is the main benefit from increasing numbers of pistons :) i.e. squeezing the disc in 2 places works better than just 1.

Re: Brake upgrade

Are the discs the same size on the st165 setup? If not you will have a larger leverage effect. It may be the same force but applied at a greater distance from the pivot, moving the earth and all that.

Re: Black mk1's

They are quite rare but I have one and I know someone else who has one in the North West. There are rarer colours around like a dark metallic red, a metallic blue/turquoise, and the two tone Sherwood which is metallic green over champagne. I've never seen any of these colours on the road but have s...
