Correct me if I'm wrong, was that 0-60 in 4sec and 0-90 in 8sec?
What an awesome machine you've built.

Re: mk1b no acceleration past 3k RPM
Are you sure the pump that you fitted is good?
This sounds like similar symptoms I've had with a failing standard pump.
I've also had similar problems with a dodgy MAP sensor, although not on an mr2.

Re: Engine balancing
Probably worth either balancing or replacing (with a lighter one) the crank pulley while you're at it.

I might have remembered incorrectly, it looks like he only changed the hubs, thus allowing him to use the stronger mk2 turbo drive shafts.

Sorry about the slow response, not been on for a while. Another vote for the ford Idis coil pack here. I've been running one alongside an Omex 600 on a full n/a build for a good few years now. No problems at all.
You can also use the Escort / Sierra / YB cosworth crank sensor.

Awesome (in both appearance and performance by all accounts!).
Please don't spare the details.
What wheels and tyres?

Gains will be very small if you stay mild. Maybe spend the money elsewhere, gear ratios for example, either 6speed, final drive or smaller wheels & tyres.

Richard Macer RMSport. Dave Brooks Race Engines. AutocraftUK Ltd Wolverhampton RMSport is the 4a-ge man. Has been for a long time. Can build anything from road spec to full Formula Atlantic type engines. Autocraft have had some bad press in the past, they now build some decent 3s-gte motors and scre...

Re: Tacho with aftermarket ECU
I can vouch for this solution. Paul helped us out with this problem a few years back when we fitted throttle bodies and an omex 600 on the rally car (thanks again Paul). Worked perfectly then and is still working perfectly 5 years later. On the omex note, I was amazed how simple the wiring was, you ...

Dirty mating.
I've had a similar problem before. I managed to get rid of the vibration by removing the wheel, caliper and disc then cleaning up the mating surfaces with a wire brush (they were rather mucky / corroded). So hub, both sides of the disc and the wheel flange. It's free and relatively easy. While you'r...

Re: Any MK1.5 owners out there?
Just do it, you won't be disappointed. A bloke on a Ninja once pulled up next to me at a set of lights and knocked on the drivers window. He wanted to know what the hell he'd been chasing as he'd never had to try so hard! A 1.5 definitely demands respect, kicking sideways when switching lanes to ove...

After a couple of seasons out due to moving house and now with a baby on the way it's time to get the MR2 back on the road / track before it's too late. Last weekend saw the fully freshened LSD C64 refitted. Now sporting a custom 5.1 final drive, new bearings, synchros and hubs and modified selector...

Thread Revival
http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h104/paulkay2/envillestages200610798.jpg It's been a while but I thought a thread revival was in order. Especially as we've been tinkering recently. But first some videos from a few years back, when we actually competed on a regular basis in the wee six speed mk1. ...

Re: CarBen Fibre Creations MK1 Part Discussion
Slightly OT - Paul, will the rivet arches be fibreglass or ABS? I may need wider arches at some point but I'm wary of fitting FG ones as they'll be pretty vulnerable to clipping various apex markers etc and I'd be worried about cracking them. Whereas ABS should take a little more abuse. From experi...

Re: CarBen Fibre Creations MK1 Part Discussion
I'm not interested in carbon especially. It's generally a bit expensive to risk on a competition car.
Very interested in lightweight composite front wings, bonnet, boot lid with integral spoiler. Also would be keen on a one piece front valance, grill + bumper and a one piece rear bumper.

Re: 6 speed LSD Mk1 gearbox build
Paul Woods is the man to ask. We did our conversion before most, and in a rush with little knowledge and a lot of trial and error. Since then Mr Woods seems to have perfected the task of mating a C60/64 to the 4a-ge. We couldn't have got ours working reliably without the valuable help and advice fro...

How did toyota reduce the CR on the GZE motor?
I'm sure the head is identical so I'm guessing shorter pistons. In which case the valve cut outs may not be an issue as the piston stops short at TDC.
