Re: Adjusting alterntor belt

General rule is you should just be able to turn the belt 90 degrees. If it's been slipping, i'd replace it. When they slip, the inside of the belt gets hot and can end up "polished", reducing it's ability to be gripped, especially under high alternator loads. Great advice, thanks :thumleft:

Adjusting alterntor belt

The alternator belt on my mk 2 squeaks very annoyingly around fast idle speed (especially so when starting from cold / pulling out of junctions). I am going to have a go at adjusting it, seems like a pretty easy job to do, loosen a couple of bolts and then use the adjusting bolt - my question is, ho...

Re: Mk 2 lowering springs, talk to me......

I lowered my rev5 on Apex springs. Also have adjustable shock inserts but left as-is. The ride is as good as standard, if there has been a difference I don't believe I'd ever notice. Mud flaps do catch on speed bumps now which is a thing, and if you're going lower than -30 no flaps! Define what you...

Mk 2 lowering springs, talk to me......

I want to lower the ride height of my rev 5 Mk 2 a little. What springs do people recommend I fit to the standard shockers? The Apex ones seem like a fair price and offer a 30mm drop......your thoughts please :thumleft:

Re: I'm back in the gang! Picked this up today (",)

Thanks peeps :D

I like the wheels, but will need to address the rears, perhaps space them a little, as they look a little lost in the arches. Plenty of bits to sort out over time, just glad that I have found (what appears to be) a straight Rev 5 :thumleft:

I'm back in the gang! Picked this up today (",)

After the rather sad demise of my much loved Rev 4 N/A, and a brief fling with a E36 BMW Coupe (soon to be up for sale), I am glad to report that I saw the light and picked this up today! It's a late Rev 5 N/A in black with a few mods, some to stay, some to go. Mechanically sound, just a few cosmeti...

Rev 5?

Peeps, just a quick one - I am assuming that a 'V' registered mk2 (registered 13.9.99) is a Rev 5 car?

Can someone please confirm :thumleft:

Red Mk 2's, talk to me....

I'm thinking about getting another Mk 2, a late Rev 5 N/A is on the cards. As a rule I don't generally go for red cars, but I happen to think the mk 2 looks nice in red, especially with some grey / black wheels etc. The only thing that puts me off is the risk of paint fade (I have seen some truly sh...

Re: Whirring noise

Sounds like it's just the a/c pump that's your problem mate, your car has an electric power steering system so there is no power steering pump driven by the second belt. Replacement a/c pumps ( if that is the problem) can be picked up very cheap second hand as a lot of folk dump them when doing pow...

Re: Whirring noise

Correct- that belt only drives the a/c :thumleft: Great, cheers for info :thumleft: I think the short term answer, as you say, is to wip the belt off in that case. This should stop the noise, and put my mind at ease :D Just to clarify, if I did want to keep the air con system running, what would be...
