Re: The chicken has landed.
Great effort Glad it's still going strong!
My previous Mk2 was trooping on effortlessly towards 150k until its untimely demise.....my current mk2 has a paltry 80k on it, but rising at a decent rate smiles all the way

Re: I'm back in the gang! Picked this up today (",)
Thought i'd post up a quick update Progress has not been great (winter weather + no garage), but I think I have got the MR2 looking a bit sharper since I purchased it back in early Nov. The first thing I did was give the old girl a proper clean inside and out. It has come up pretty good me thinks, a...

Re: Snapped bolt - rear brake cylinder / caliper
First step is to remove the caliper, and take the bracket off the car...there might be enough of the bolt still in it to get a decent grip on. If there is I would put it in a vice, put a heat gun on it till it's hot , spray it with WD40, then once the smoke has cleared put mole grips on it as tight...

Re: Snapped bolt - rear brake cylinder / caliper
The bolt has snapped off just at the start of the thread. Haven't got a pic of the caliper itself at the mo, but the snapped section of bolt must be sticking out a little as the cylinder / caliper is being held in position. Here is the bolt, sorry not the best pic, taken with my phone: http://i37.ph...

Snapped bolt - rear brake cylinder / caliper
Snapper the bottom bolt that holds the rear brake cylinder / caliper in place (the one that you undo so the caliper can swing up to remove the pads). I noticed that the bolt was not in good shape when I removed it, and sure enough it snapped like a bit of pasta when I tried to tighten it back up - k...

Re: Frozen windscreen... On the inside...
This is the fix I used on my previous Mk 2 T-Bar, worked wonders. I now need to do it to my current Mk 2 as it leaks between the window and door frame:

Re: What bulb - Mk 2 boot?
501 Great stuff, cheers! As luck would have it I had a 501 in the tool box, slipped it in and works a treat, only issue is, the light is not going off when the boot is closed (hence why the bulb was removed by the previous owner). Any ideas how to fix this? I could't even see where the switch is......

Re: Will these JBL GT5-652 6.5" speakers fit in the door pods of a Mk 2?
Fitted these yesterday. They are not a straight swap, as a little bit of cutting is required. Having said that, all I had to do was increase the diameter of the mounting hole by about 2/3mm...nothing 2 mins with the grinder couldn't sort out. For the money, they sound great

How do I find out what colour my car is?
My new Mk2 Rev 5 is black, but I understand there are a couple of different shades of black (so I have been told). It there a way to easily confirm the correct factory colour? Is it located on the car anywhere / vin plate etc? I only ask because some nice person has reversed into my front bumper rem...

Re: Adjusting alterntor belt
But while you are waiting for the belt if you order it you could just put one turn on the bolt. As Peter said, i usually do it up to about "that tight" which is when at the middle of the longest run i can twist it thro only 90 deg. And yes just loosen the pivot bolt and then turn the adju...
