They do some xenon on eBay cheap enough, it is a whiter light to match the HIDs.

Re: Legislation for MOT with HID lights

On a seperate but related note I also learnt (on one of those police reality tv shows of all places) that it's not an offence to show coloured lights on the front of a car. In years gone by before I knew any better I used to have coloured sidelights and was told off several times for them. Apparent...

Re: Legislation for MOT with HID lights

The main issue with HIDs is that the technology is different to a basic filament bulb. A filament will give a light source that will be seen throughout 360 degrees [which is why the top af an H4/H1 bulb is blacked out to prevent oncoming glare]. The reflector it's housed in, concentrates and points ...

Re: Replacement windscreens

Got a turbo one recently done by Autoglass, was an oem toyota one. They didnt have any problems with cost or sourcing. I did say i wasnt bothered about the am aerial, just the tint colour but they said NO, it has to be an exact replacment. The policy for all windscreen replacement companies is 'lik...

Re: Part no for rev5 red stitched gear gaitor?

Ryan, I have a spare one for my Rev 5 as I have just fitted a Richbrook surround and never used the gaiter I bought. Unused and in perfect condition. http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af244/Torero26/gaiter_2.jpg I also have the original red stitched which I replaced a year ago with the plastic bas...

Re: Wing Mirror Spring

No Tosh, the spring is under tension when folded back to the body. If you have a spare unit just exchange it for the old one, a simple job - provided you can get the mirror off the car

Nice one, Buddy :thumleft: The fibre glass kits are £2k plus mile delivery, with all the bits you can sell on you will probably find that this project is completely self funding. Don't worry over removing the body kit, the advice on here is very good and I would also add not to cut corners on qualit...

Re: Wheel colour choice?

TBH I would paint them to suit what the seller appeal dictates. If you do the red lip and centre caps then owners with yellow or blue cars will not show much interest. However, plain silver or SMG has a mass appeal, can be modded by the new owner and will also be cheaper.

Re: Knocks and Rattles, clangs, bangs, clicks etc.....

Problem: Drivers/Passenger Window rattling when driving. Possible causes: Weatherstrip guide worn. Solution:Remove weatherstrip and reactivate guide or replace weatherstrip - [30 minutes work] Mechanical skill level - minimal. A good guide is here: http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/know-your-2/mk2/exterior-/26...

Re: power steering.

a Rev 1 doesn't have power steering, ABS, door reinforcing bars etc. These were introduced for Rev 2 onwards.

However, the purists say this makes for a much better driving experience.

KayJay0_7 has modded one from a standard bracket he bought in B&Q. It does the job perfectly and looks good. PM him for some pics.

Re: gonna get some HEL braided lines, but...

I used a cable tie wrapped around the 2 original bolts. Seems to hold the fitting quite firm. Been through 2 MOTs like it with no problem. Been meaning to fit a metal bracket bent around the fixing but haven't got round to it yet. Not a major problem. Same here, no problem or issues and they are st...

Re: Fibre glass [GRP] wings can they be modified to fit larger wheels?

you can cut a hole like i did at the top of the wheel arch to allow the air to escape or cut slats out :) That's sounds good Rob. :thumleft: I just need to find some reasonably priced GRP wings to cut. You have any ideas on a supplier that does GRP? What I ideally want is the moulding to have...

Re: Fibre glass [GRP] wings can they be modified to fit larger wheels?

If you're after vented fg wings, I have a pair that i'd sell for £100 delivered. Been test fitted and were pretty good. They look like they're already moulded as if they've been rolled - although I couldn't say for sure. Only selling as I decided it's too much bother to remove my bonded side skirts...

Fibre glass [GRP] wings can they be modified to fit larger wheels?

I have been looking at some GRP wings as they have the vent to allow back pressure to escape from the wheel arch. My issue is that I may go with 18" wheels all round and 8Js on the front are known to foul slightly on the wheel arch. However arch rolling will cure this but has anyone also tried ...

Re: MR2 and wind.

Have you considered the front lower lip extension, together with the front wheel lip extensions?(Air dams) someone on here has these fitted, cant remember who. I have those on my rev 5 but the best response I had was adding the Aeroware splitter. Gives much more positive handling at higher speeds eve...
