Re: knock sensor

From memory it should be easy enough and accessible from underneath without removing anything although some contortion may be required, you should certainly be able to get the socket on, I just can remember how easy it is to find enough space to swing a ratchet. Oh and make sure you have a deep sock...

Re: knock sensor

TCB sell various knock sensors for Toyotas, I'm pretty sure one of them will be the right one although none of them are listed for the 4A-GZE

Think it might be the QIC 916 although it's probably best to give them a call and check rather than ordering one blindly.

Re: URGENT! I've locked my keys in the boot!!!

The tail lights are only plastic, give access to the boot and are easily/cheaply replaceable. Smash/cut through one of those, stick an arm in and grab your keys.

Once you're in, you need to work out why your boot release doesn't work to save you next time!

Weight limits for the championship are managed in order to keep the different marks on a similar pace

Re: Mk2 or Mk3 for track work?

I'm not a fan of convertibles as track cars without some form of additional protection so I'd only use a mk3 as a 'dedicated' track car if you are planning to fit either a cage or a structural rear hoop.

Re: Toyota Sprint Anglesey

Single day IOPD is £5. The MR2 running in the TSS is mine. I've been doing the series since it started (only ever missed the very first one off event in 2007). Would be good to see a few more out, for a variety of reasons most of the other MR2s ahve ended up in the Javelin series this year (Mostly d...

Re: Upgraded Engine Parts

I've found some smallport pistons in the USA I am using instead of spending £500 on Pistons from this country. Last I knew brand new OEM pistons could be bought from Toyota for just under £60 each. As for the block, even if you can't source an oil squirter block, at the very least get a 7 rib block...

That sounds like a whole world of pain for no good reason. Why not just get some parts that are designed to fit together?

Re: Upgraded Engine Parts

That makes some sense, and I can now see how it may cause a problem. Having done some further reading I'd be inclined to think that this is something which 'can' be a problem under some circumstances but which is a non-issue in most cases. There are certainly going to be a lot of 4A-GEs out there us...

Re: Upgraded Engine Parts

I've used ARP head studs on a couple of my engines and I'm well aware of the distributor issue (I just spun the dizzy shaft in a drill and used a file to machine a chamfer on the end of the shaft to allow it to clear the stud) but I've never seen anything about an oil feed issue and am struggling to...

Re: 1b passenger wing

I've got a pair of mica blue wings that I've had in storage for several years now. They are rust free and were in great condition when I took them off the car although they've since taken a few knocks/scrapes whilst they've been in the garage.

Re: Harness without rollcage

I'd be surprised if you can fit those into an MR2, I have a pair of similar style harnesses (but without the inertia reel) that are intended for use in a 4 seat car and there was no way to get the straps short enough to fit in an MR2

Are they standard wheels still? You can barely give them away, no-one is going to steal them. Don't waste your time/money on locking wheel nuts for them.

Re: Horny Screaming Chicken? :)

The owner of one of the cars I had in the past had a load printed onto adhesive foil and had then stuck them onto the wheel center caps etc. I'm sure something similar could be applied to a horn push if you were so inclined. Unfortunately I seem to recall that he'd got a weird idea in his head that ...

Re: Barn Find MK1b First Start in 3 years. Help

See, This is the kind of information I needed. I will use a Y rope technique over the front axle then, pulling on the wishbones or whatever to get it up the ramp. If all goes well I might be able to drive it on, so we shall see. And yeah, once I've posted enough comments on here, I'll post some pic...

Re: Barn Find MK1b First Start in 3 years. Help

The engines are pretty resilient and 3 years isn't that long, you can check whether it's seized pretty easily by turning it over with the crank pulley bolt (think it's a 19mm from memory - there's plenty of room to get a socket or offset ring spanner on it anyway). Main problem you're likely to have...

Re: Mk2 2gr supercharged

Am I right in thinking that as soon as you go left or right across the gates it'll display either 2nd or 6th before any gear is engaged (Ideally you'd want it to continue to display N) and then presumably change to 1st or 5th if these gears are selected? Also what are you wanting to happen when you ...

Re: Stock spring rates

Having the standard adjusters working combined with adjustable top mounts allow you to adjust kingpin inclination independently of camber so it still has some value. KPI is the angle formed by a line between the two pivot points at the top and bottom of the strut compared to the vertical (when viewe...
