Re: TSS : Roadster Roll Protection
If you want a full cage then I'd expect Rogue to be able to sort you out. If you just want a half cage then I'm not sure there are any off the shelf options in the UK. There have been the odd short runs or group buys from the US though however so it may be worth engaging with some of the mk3 communi...

Re: Camry v6 Idler Pulley
In all the years I sprinted a 4A-GZE I never had any problems with the plastic pulley. I always intended to swap it out for the Camry one but never got around to it because the Ford one worked fine for me. Is it possible that some people over tension the belt causing the Ford part to fail prematurel...

Re: Toyota Sprint series Dates are out
The GPS/Speed data comes from a Racelogic Performance Box which also has an optional input module connected to it that gives me RPM plus 4 0-12v analogue inputs (I've got 1 connected to TPS, one to the brake light circuit, one to the wideband AFR and the 4th will be connected to a boost source of so...

Re: 6spd Mk1 Turbo in the Toyota Sprint Series
Famous last words there Paul! First round didn't end very well - broke the gearbox after 1 run! Nothing to do with the power or anything though, I'd rebuilt one of them with the longer 6th from the Celica 140 'box and managed to neglect to install the snap ring that locates the 5th/6th gear selector...

Re: Toyota Sprint series Dates are out
This seasons target for me was to take an overall podium at an event. Yesterday I achieved that and then some!

Re: Toyota Sprint series Dates are out
Adrian mentioned that this would be good for me to give a shot. Would love to, maybe the Cadwell or Snetterton later in the year. Its a version of Time Attack correct ? , is it done from a flying lap or from standstill ? Not quite the same as Time Attack. TA is essentially qualifying, drive around ...

Re: Loose streering
Yes directly above the splined part is where I'm talking about. My understanding is that where the splined part is inserted into the wider part there is a rubber insulator between the two pieces of metal that degrades over time. Bit more info, and a picture of a welded repair here: http://www.mr2.co...

Re: Loose streering
Where the top of the splined part is inside the rest of the column is the rubber bush that's known to wear out and cause sloppy steering. A common repair is simply to weld the two parts together effectively eliminating the bush. Fixing it in this way will theoretically mean that there'll be a bit mo...

Re: 4AGZE OEM HG
There's nothing special about a GZE HG. You can use any of the multitude that are available for the n/a engine. Having said that I usually lean towards using a genuine Toyota HG and generally end up buying the full gasket kit so that I have new replacements for anything else I might need. I think I'...

Re: UK fog switch electrical problem
From the wiring diagram I'm looking at, I think you have the switch wired the wrong way around. r/w should be the 12v feed (which is via a relay on the oem installation) and the r/g is the switched feed to the foglight (the telltale light is also connected to the r/g side of the switch which is why ...

Re: 4AGZE Conversion
You don't. If the alternator is in the way you'll need to loosen the belt and remove it. Belt tension is adjusted via the tensioner pulley (Loosening the bolt in the center of the pulley allows it to move, then the pulley position is adjusted using the bolt from underneath) Supercharger belt tension...

Re: 4AGZE Conversion
When I was running a 4A-GZE in the sprint car I found it ran fine on the standard fuel system (n/a pump, factory SC fuel rail/regulator etc.), I also used an n/a engine lid (although the internal webbing had been removed for weight reduction)

Re: Lighting Issue ?? Switch ? Pop-ups ?
Issues with the pop-ups are often caused by the headlight retract relay. I can't remember whether the motors are on seperate fuses or not either so that is worth looking into. I know there are fuses for left and right but can't remember whether they are for the lights or the motors If it's a mk1b th...

Re: What alloys people using?
Not got any proper pics yet but the wheels themselves clear the brakes ok (Standard mk1b at the front, mk2 22v calipers on mk1b front discs at the rear) although I do have to be careful with the placement of any balance weights on the rear. I'm running zero offset with bolt on arch extensions althou...

There's no formal MSA licence required. You will need an IOPD licence but you can buy this on the day for a nominal fee (£5 for a single event or £15 for a full season)

Re: 6spd Mk1 Turbo in the Toyota Sprint Series
That is impressive. How long do you think it will last? Well there's a few non-OEM bits on it now and it has prior naval association so it'll probably fall apart after five minutes or so. On a more serious note there's no reason to believe it will have any particular issues. It's not exactly crazy ...

Re: 6spd Mk1 Turbo in the Toyota Sprint Series
Had the turbo setup mapped properly yesterday which means I can now run full boost.
Its now making 267hp at 1bar which is a fair step up from the 208hp at 0.6 bar I had last season and a long way from the 160 or so I had with the SC.

One thing I forgot about until today, I think FEAM has some kind Celica calipers on the front. Never got around to looking at them properly so can't tell you more than that but worth a look.
