Re: Is it just me or does this sound dubious?

I believe the way the scam works is that they will "Accidently" paypal you more money than the asking price. Then they'll ask you to refund them the extra along with some story that causes you to return the money via non-reversible means (either paypal to another address or bank transfer e...

Re: Radiator Fans constantly on - 88 Supercharger with Air Con

The fan will be on all of the time if the temperature sender/switch that is screwed into the radiator is not connected (I'll often unplug mine if I need to cool the car down after a run on track - one day I might get around to wiring in a switch!). As you've swapped the rad (and therefore disturbed ...

Re: For those with Koni Adjustables - what setting do you use?

A quick search seems to suggest that the dampers are still available individually but the SSK appears to be no longer listed anywhere that I could see.

Re: Work Meister CR01 alloys and Yoko S-drive Tyres for sale

I think you've just got a very small market to aim at. There are very few people prepared and able to spend that kind of money on wheels for a mk1, due to the price level, those that can spend the money have a wide variety of other options open to them so you're then looking for someone who has the ...

Re: 6 speed LSD Mk1 gearbox build

I had the whole shifter apart, removed the 25 year old grease which had gone like treacle and regreased it. The bent bracket meant that the gearbox and the shifter were trying to centralise to slightly different positions and the spring at the shiter end was winning which was putting the gearbox end...

Re: 6 speed LSD Mk1 gearbox build

Sorted it now. I think the main issue was the bracket on top of the gearbox was slightly bent out of alignment compared to the one that was previously on the car. I refitted the one I had been using and it was a lot better but not quite spot on. I filed out one of the holes to elongate it a touch wh...

Re: 6 speed LSD Mk1 gearbox build

6 spd is finally in! Couple of issues to look at tomorrow but I've been for a short drive and all gears are engaging without any crunches, bangs or anything trying to exit the casing so that's a start! One thing I've notced is that the gear lever doesn't seem to be self-centering properly across the...

Re: Gearbox removal

Same as Chris, no need to be taking the suspension apart. I do sometimes undo the hub nuts and knock the driveshafts out in order to keep them out of the way but it's not really necessary and I only do it because I know my car has been apart frequently enough that nothing will be stuck and the few m...

Re: Polybushing a mk1b- different to mk1b??

You can fit a mk1b rear bar however it's mounted slightly further back so there's a little bit of modding required where the mounting brackets bolt to the chassis. The rear mounting hole on the mk1a becomes the front hole with the mk1b bar fitted then you have to drill additional mounting points for...

Re: Polybushing a mk1b- different to mk1b??

All of the main bushes are the same. If the kit includes anti-roll bar bushes then these won't fit.

Brake master cylinder options

Whilst at Spa this week the brake pedal was somewhat inconsistent, I replaced both front calipers before we went and I've come to the conclusion that I may have a dodgy master cylinder so I'd like to swap it out. From looking around it seems that the mk1 master cylinder isn't really available new an...

Re: MR1- The Devildog project.

It's something i may give thought to in the future, there would certainly be a market for it, but it would become a full time job very quickly i fear, time i just don't have right now. Once you've got a design you may find you can subcontract the manufacturing. Could be an option to get a few chass...

Re: MR1- The Devildog project.

Looks good for a laugh, I'd be tempted to come at it from the other direction - start with a complete mk1 and just keep cutting bits off it until theres nothing left to remove then stiffen it up where necessary. I'd expect there will be more time than you'd think in turning a scratch built chassis i...

Re: 6 speed LSD Mk1 gearbox build

Gearbox is all built and sealed up \o/ Will be a few weeks before I get to put it in the car and see if it all works, in the meantime I've refitted all of the Celica selector bellcranks etc and it looks like they'll foul on the clutch release lever (Looking at the 2ZZ bellhousing the clutch lever ha...

What time do you think you guys will be getting to Newark? We're nowhere near organised enough to know that! I don't normally take time off for JAE, but I only work a half day Friday anyway so could potentially be there mid to late afternoon (It's a couple of hours drive plus however long I spend g...

Possibly one to do Sunday before heading home?

Clutch line dimensions

Can anyone confirm the pipe diameter and fittings on the main clutch line that runs from front to rear? I'm aware that mine has some corrosion and will need to be replaced in the near future but can't get to the car at the moment to check dimensions. I know it's bigger than the brake lines and I've ...

Re: 6 speed LSD Mk1 gearbox build

Slight update, I've gotten around to stripping down the output shaft. More molten needle roller bearings were discovered. I'm beginning to suspect that this box has been run with very low/no oil at some point to have caused all of these bearings to have overheated. The extra movement in the gears ca...

Re: Fuse Box Loom (rear)

This section of loom passes through the bulkhead into the cabin behind the passenger seat where there are a couple of connectors where you should (from memory) be able to separate this part of the loom from the remainder of the wiring. This section of loom also includes all of the wiring to the boot...
