Re: 6spd Mk1 Turbo in the Toyota Sprint Series

Went to Croft at the weekend, videos of one tidy run and one hooligan run https://youtu.be/Nw9Y_Wz9CHo https://youtu.be/HzyR-f5PTOw Next up is Cadwell at the end of the month. Been carrying an issue with low power over the last couple of events but looking the data from Croft it looks like a boost l...

Re: Engine support with box off

A decent sized jack with a large head on it has never been a problem for me (resting on the gearbox end of the sump with a block of wood in between.) If you're really worried about movement or if your jack is small enough that the engine is balanced a bit precariously then I guess you could use a st...

Re: exhaust

As Lauren says, it'll be fine. I'm currently running a Mongoose (Which is basically the same exhaust) on our SC conversion. The only issue you will get fitting n/a exhaust parts to an SC is if you start changing the manifold - The SC has an O2 sensor mounted in the manifold whereas a (UK/European sp...

I know, it's one of those things I forget about until I'm driving the car and by then it's too late to do anything about it.

6spd Mk1 Turbo in the Toyota Sprint Series

I've realised that I don't really post much of my antics in here so I thought I'd start with a video from last weekends sprint

Re: Mk1 Supercharger Conversion Engine Mount Strengthening

I know Paul advocates beefing up the mounts on 3sgte conversions but I'm not sure it's really done on GZE conversions. Our car runs standard na gearbox and mounts with poly inserts and I've had no trouble with them and I'd say ours takes more abuse than most being a sprint car. It'll be subjected t...

Re: Oukie's SC thread

Do you mean how do you adjust it or how do you check whether it's tight enough? For checking tightness I generally do it by feel, just testing the deflection in the belt by hand. Adjusting tightness is a bit fiddly if you haven't encountered this style of tensioner before. The bolt in the centre of ...

Re: MK1 Underfloor Brace

The extra braces on the mk3 are compensating for the lack of roof. Probably not much point putting one on a mk1 unless you're planning on getting the grinder out...

Re: Oukie's SC thread

Our sprint car used to register around 100dba static with a Janspeed/SC if you need a reference. I loved the sound but it was unnecessarily noisy for track work so I swapped it out for a Mongoose to allow me to keep my options open, they're fine for an occasional road car though.

Re: Is there a problem with my starter motor?

I believe there is a reasonably common electrical issue (possibly relay related from memory) that can cause the starter to continue to engage for a few seconds after you stop cranking it. My car suffers from this occasionally if it's been standing for a while and I know Paul has posted information r...
