[Mk2] [Turbo] How to jumper wires in the IC fan ECU?

I need some help wiring up my IC fan.In the instructions it says that in the IC fan ECU you need to jumper Blue-White wire to Black-White wire to bypass the fan controller (and have the fan on whenever the engine is on). Does this mean i have to remove the Blue-White wire along with the pin & th...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Where can i buy a power steering pump from?

Eurgh I feel like we're getting nowhere here. The power steering system is more complex then that, yeah it might have power to it when stationary but who knows what it is doing when you're driving around (not much by your reports of poor power steering) there is a reason it has its own dedicated 'E...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Where can i buy a power steering pump from?

Fitted the new P/S pump & the steering requires lesser effort to turn it still shakes at low speeds & becomes hard when going around a U turn.

Also swapped in a P/S ECU i had lying around but it did not make any difference.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Where can i buy a power steering pump from?

Unable to comment how how 'soft' it is or isn't without trying it myself. Ok well if it was actually working properly with the direct 12V i'd say your problem is a control issue, as you have just proven the motor/pump electrically (power wise) and mechanically. Odd you don't have any error codes th...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Where can i buy a power steering pump from?

It's ok mate no need for documenting it i'm just a bit sceptical as to what they're 'repairing', i've had 2 of these apart with no signs of wear. The factory? mate these things are twenty years old I doubt you can get new motors now and even then it would be a waste of money it's just a DC motor. C...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Where can i buy a power steering pump from?

I need to create a thread on rebuilding my power steering rack and motor but in the mean time here is a couple of pics. The vane pump, not sure what is being machined by the mechanic over there Image Replaced With URL For Quote https://i.imgur.com/FAPvaAI.jpg and 2 different motor tops, which witho...

Anyhow, give the direct power supply and a go and see what happens.

Right.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Where can i buy a power steering pump from?

Not sure why it needed machining i've never heard of anyone having that done, the ends are rounded slightly are run inside a smooth round spacer thingy. Anyway if you have changed pumps already its very unlikely both have suffered from the same failure mode. Mech says vane pumps being repaired is q...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Where can i buy a power steering pump from?

Yeah not sure what they 'repaired' on the vane pump there is nothing to it! i'll post some pics later need to upload off my phone. Also unplug the connectors for the motor as well when you jumper the 12V to it, if you see an improvment with the steering after doing that it's defintely a control iss...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Where can i buy a power steering pump from?

Yeah there is no difference between the pumps themselves as in the mechanical part bolted to the motor but there IS a difference between motors. Some have additional wiring which I presume is for current feedback to the ECU. I'm not sure what metric you're using to judge the 'stiffness' there reall...

I guess it would worth a try

Cheers

Guess i will need to do this if the new pump does not sort out the problem.

Thanks!

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Where can i buy a power steering pump from?

So the power steering motor/pump is definitely running? Does the power steering light come on with the ignition they extinguish once the car is started? There is nothing to the physical pump part of the motor/pump assembly, in fact that goes for the whole lot really. Seems odd your steering is 'sti...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Where can i buy a power steering pump from?

not usually the pump, have you tried the on off trick like 50 times sad but it works lol The power steering works but it has become very stiff to turn in the last couple of months. I had swapped the rack assy. with my REV 3,NA a few years back along with the pump but that didn't seem to help so i b...

TCB does not seem to reply even after i wrote to them twice last week.

Is there a Toyota parts dealer in the U.K. that ships internationally?

Thanks!

Can you remove the brake light and then try to pry open the trunk lid with a coat hanger? You wouldn't have to break anything this way?

Re: Not boosting past 11 psi.

Do not remove the fcd .. just run the car with no boost control and no signal to the actuator .. lift at 15psi if it makes it ... if it only hits 12psi ish you have a problem . Kev. I can switch off the Blitz boost controller & run the car on WG spring pressure or do I need to disconnect the ho...
