As Mulaz says why didn't you just remove the barrel? It's a 2 minute job.

Remove the cowling around the steering column then there's a pin on top of the barrel. Press this in and you can pull the barrel out with the key (or what's left of it) one turn around.

Saturday - white mk1 in Stamford Bridge
- dark coloured mk2 near Morrisons in Beverley
Today - 2 mk2's on the m1 north bound - one white na and a blue ish turbo.

Just spotted this on the bay Chris, then saw this post.

It's Tom with the black Mk1.5; we chatted at the Hull motor show.

This car really is a few notches above the rest.

I've got some of these (Boost, oil temp, water temp). As redmoose mentioned they may not have a super fast response rate but we're talking milliseconds. Check your main engine earth, I had this problem the other month on my Mk1.5 after heavy rain. I replaced all silicone hoses, all vacuum pipes, new jubilee clips, tried bypassing the boost controller and nearly took off the turbo to replace the actuator. Then... noticed the earth looked a bit manky ...

Spotted limping home with what looked like some of your exhaust hanging off. Hope you got back okay! (Presumed you were okay as you didn't stop at the petrol station we passed)
