Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Aftermarket alloys - wheel nut question.....

Cheers people. The figures that I quoted were taken from the (dirty) inside of the wheel and were quite tricky to read, so its probably the case that they're wrong. Slimline nuts definatley sound like the'd do the biz so get a set of those :thumleft:

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Aftermarket alloys - wheel nut question.....

I've just had a look at the codes on the wheels and they are as follows: Fronts: 6 1/2J X 15H2 ET40 LK114.9 Rears: 6 1/2J X 15H2 ET87 LK114.3 I have know idea what these sizes mean, but I know that plastic shims/spacer things  have been fitted to the inside of the wheels. Are these wheels goin...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Aftermarket alloys - wheel nut question.....

I've recently bought a set of 15" AEZ Xylo alloys and tyres for my rev3 turbo - they had come off a MK2 previously. When I got back home and tried to put them on the car, it became apparent very quickly that I can't use the OEM nuts! they just don't fit in the recessed holes in the alloys - the...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Main beam doesn't 'click' on anymore...

Do you not push it forward for permanent main beam?? Oh yeah! i've just checked. I've just started driving my 2 after a couple of years in a company car (ford) and i'd forgotten all the controls! The usual windscreen wipers going when turning left/right etc.... Why can't they just standardis...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Main beam doesn't 'click' on anymore...

Noticed lastnight whilst driving my car that the main bean doesn't 'click' on when you pull the stalk back. If I pull it back and hold it there the main beam works OK, but obviously thats a bit inconvienient! Is there a relay thats knackered or something, and does anyone know where that relay is? ch...

DIY Tracking - can it be done?

My tracking is way out on my car. The tyres have worn accordingly, but I can't afford to get 2 new ones until a couple of weeks. If I get the tracking done now, the tyres would only pull the tracking out again soon. I'm off for some 'spirited' driving at the weekend so was wondering if I could impro...

Re: Repairing/Refurbing Alloys yourself? Worth it?

I'm thinking of re-furbing my (standard 15") alloys. I was going to get the nitromorse and rattly cans out, but I have visions of me spending hours on them, not being satisfied with the results and the paint/lacquer peeling off after a few weeks  But incase I do, which is best to use t...

Do those a/c 'leak fix' kits work?

The a/c on my rev3 turbo has never worked since I've had it. Its never bothered me that much, but after driving another car with air con i've really grown to like it. When I press the a/c button on the 2, nothing happens at all. There's no noise of the compressor (?) engaging or anything, no change ...

Re: How do you fix the 'Man in Dandism' mats to the floor?

Nice one  I have a feeling there's going to be a sudden surge in demand for those

Even if the mats 'pivot' on the clip, its still got to be better than having no clip at all...

How do you fix the 'Man in Dandism' mats to the floor?

My rev3 turbo still has the 'Man is Dandism' (WTF? LOL  ) mats in it, but they move around all over the floor and sometimes they're perilously close to the pedals. They each have 2 holes in them, but I can't see how they would fix to the carpet - does anyone know?

Re: Idle speed WAY too high - help...

Theres no idle speed adjustment on the rev 3 either... its totally ecu controlled..... Generally sounds normal.. when the engine first fires... the enrichment is high. the bores are flooded with fuel... then once its running a minute, the fuel enrichment is eased off.. hence the revs rise..... Its ...

Re: Idle speed WAY too high - help...

Started from cold, it idles at about 1000rpm. Then grudually for a minute ot two, if you blip the throttle, the revs climb slowly to just under 2000rpm. When its hot they settle to around 950ish. But if there is no way of alteringh the mixture i'm snookered really. But surely changing the idle speed...

Idle speed WAY too high - help...

My rev3 turbo failed its emissions on co2, so I got another coolant temp sensor to see if that would cure it. I've fitted it, but now when the engine is cold the revs climb steadily after starting to just under 2000rpm! Is there anyway to calm it down a bit - I can't seem to see a mixture adustment ...

Re: Car failed MOT on emissions - Rev3 Turbo

Mine failed MOT but the garage put some fuel additive in and it passed! this is interesting - the petrol in my tank is 2 years old  I put a fivers worth in from a can, but I would say its half 2 year old fuel, half new fuel. would this make a difference to the emissions? I was thinking about ...

Re: Car failed MOT on emissions - Rev3 Turbo

If replacing the coolant temperature sensor doesn't do the trick, may I suggest investing a tenner in a multimeter? The BGB describes how to check most sensors in detail, the lambda/O2 sensor and throttle position sensor are pretty easy to check. I hate to think how much replacing 4 or 5 sensors wo...

Re: Car failed MOT on emissions - Rev3 Turbo

Many thanks jon. I'll try with the 'Prince Of Darkness' part first, and hopefully that might work. My current sensor that I got from a motor factors was made by 'Intermotor' IIRC. It was almost suspiciously cheap - might be a case of 'you get what you pay for'. If that doesn't work i'll be on first ...

Re: Car failed MOT on emissions - Rev3 Turbo

My cars' a N reg. Its still got the cat in, although for how much longer I wouldn't like to say  I know there is some loophole or something for the earlier Turbos with regards to emissions, given the fact they were never imported so the MOT test centres have no available information on them...

Re: i've been a numpty - urgent help required!

Cheers :D It was the front - I managed to sort it in the end. I was trying to force it back in on a slight angle (The G clamp can only be on 1 bit of the rim of the piston at any one time) so I moved the G clamp slightly and it popped back in \:D/ One day i'm going to stop spending my Sunday afterno...

i've been a numpty - urgent help required!

My car also failed its MOT on a sticky caliper.... So ive taken it of and freed it up by using a G-clamp on the end of the piston(s) to get it moving again. But I FOOLISHLY pressed the brakes a few times to get the piston out - but its come right out and It won't go back in again! I've tried using t...

Re: Car failed MOT on emissions - Rev3 Turbo

Thanks for your help jon. I did actually replace the temperature sensor with a cheappie from my local motor factors not so long back :-k It was the green/brass coloured one that screws into the coolant elbow (the one with LOTS of pipes connected to it near the dizzy). Toyota wanted like 40 quid for ...
