Re: Miles to a tank
I only get between 200-240 in my rev 2 and that seems to be running ok., I'd start looking at 180 miles, you cant have too much petrol

Re: Flat battery, draining overnight MK2
I'd say it was the battery on its way out, and its the drop in overnight temp thats finsihing it off, you can get a garage to do a drop test to check it, you could also check thats its properly topped up with distilled water aswell

Re: Another Quality Ebay Find
lol, 'the wheels are in good condition apart from scuffs', erm, so theyre not in good condition then? Looking at them now they are horrible, but many mnay moons ago I used to love them, there was a set on a light blue twin engine mrk2 golf, I used to loko at it every night before I went to sleep thi...

Re: Blitz Nur Spec Exhaust owners, i need your help!!
on another note though Sam, you should be able to pop to a local performance car shop and they may have bungs that fit, or get one made up from a local exhaust making place. They do make a big difference, my RSR has a tiny box like the nurspec does, and seems to have even shorter piping, on tickover...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] How much does a Starter motor cost?
most starter motors arent broke when they stop working, they just need cleaning out inside, a little fiddly to take apart but if you can take it off yourself I'd say you should be up for the job, just use carb cleaner/good degreaser etc to clean it with

Matt, there is no Roadtest in the MOT? Also, Unless things have changed recently, noise is not part of an MOT either. Speak to the tester and ask him what equipment he used and how he deemed it a failure  It is part of the MOT, 'the car should be not resonably louder than the standard car is'...

Re: How much does the air con weigh?
the pump weighs around 8-9kgs, and the rad a couple of kgs in the Mrk2 aswell, Ive left the pipes underneath until its warmer to fart about with the undertrays. I'd say when you couple that with lighter alloys, lighter suspension if you have coilovers, decat saves a bit of weight and so does a singl...

I just put my stock one on the uprated one I fitted, Ive noticed it doesnt come on as often as before but it still does sometimes in traffic etc, so I'd say its worth keeping

My Rev 2 T-bar Turbo
I've been out and taken a few pictures today, and I'm starting to get the car how I want now. I bought the car with a lot of the stuff on but I've still been busy with it for a while improving and fixing. Since purchase Ive fitted a decat, uprated intercooler, new rad, new pads all round, 2 recon fr...

Re: DIY wheel paint
Smooth Hammerite in the spray cans is good for stuff like this. No priming needed, coats well and seems slightly thicker than normal spray paint, so should be better for wheels.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] boost levels
With the doenpipe replaced it removes the CAT, I already had a single exit RSR exhaust which seems to be very free flowing, so that raised the boost and made it spool much quicker.
But it should be around 8 or 9psi

would you not be better off dropping a later rev 3 spec engine in if you are looking at spending at least a £1000 on that one?

I think mine was around 0.5 or 0.6 when I got it, but I changed the gauge for a psi one and fitted a downpipe, boost is now at 11.6.

Re: MR2 Mk2 NA - As much fun as a tubby?
I think the whole rev 1/2/3/4/5/1 million etc don't look that much different, in fact before I was an MR2 owner I had noticed the rear lights/rear spoiler difference, but had never noticed the colour coded strips or slightly bigger front splitter. The colour coded strips depends what colour the car ...

Re: MR2 Mk2 NA - As much fun as a tubby?
Heard it before? Yes, usually with older blokes at work who think they know everything, and bodykits/big exhausts don't do anything and go on about how nice their standard cars are and should stay that way, usually with reference to german cars. Maybes you should buy a passat? Halfords don't sell bo...

yawn. Because standard MR2's looks boring. Because its would open a can of woop ass on your N/A. Because I got it cheap as it needed some work doing.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rear brake caliper sticking?
the rear sliders will be gunked up, just remove the top one and clean it, and pull the caliper off the bottom one to clean, regrease both and should be fine again.
